Not exactly vcds - wifi dongle

I have a vcds I use whilst in the garage but have also now bought one of these eBay wifi dongles to connect my iPhone to the obd so able to do fault code reads etc if away from home.
Has anyone else here used one?

I am having problems with mine.
It shows as connected in the iPhone settings/wifi screen but does not show any signal bars in the top menu.

When I try to use any apps they do not see it as connected.

Can anyone here help me to get the damn thing to work?

I have one of these I got the wifi elm 327.

Have you changed the settings in your iPhone so it has an ip address 192.168.0.11 subnet 255.255.255.0 and router 192.168.0.10 then when you open up your app you might need to change the settings to manual and put in the ip address 192.168.0.10 and port 35000

Thanks I will try that. I have tried changing the ip bit not the router address.
What apps do you use with it?

Dashcommand works ok but the gauges can be a bit laggy at times I couldn't get rev to work with the gauges but it will read eml codes and FUZZYcar is I think very basic and I don't use it.

So would you recommend dashcommand? Just quite pricey so would like a recommendation off of any one who have used them. Before I commit to buying it.
