re coding

I got given a vag com cable and software and thought i'd give it a go on my car, its a 2008 s3. The cable has writting on both sides, on one side it says vag106 and on the other it says vag-com dual-k & can <-> usb vag/iso interface. I can get in to the car and read all the controllers it has and change some things through the adaption option, but if go to the coding part and re write a code and press "do it!" is gives a message code accepted but if i go back to the coding screen its reverted back to the origional code. Wondered if the cable is right for the car and if any one could help with a solution to this.

Try updating it with latest software.

i can use the lastest software and it does the same with the coding only it says there is a firmware update which says it can't install, maybe its the cable thats wrong for the car

Whats the cable serial number, show me a log of the car.

What version software are you using?

Is the cable genuine.
