Hi there, i am trying hard to identify a possible dicky thermostat as a cause for high fuel consumption. THere are numerous measuring blocks within VCDS which measure "Temperature".
I know that the reading for the dash guage and the ecu are taken in different places. Anyone know specifically where the ECU takes its temp from and how i can read this in VCDS to check against dash guage.

My engine is the AVF in an A4 1.9 TDI

If it helps i am using the old 4.9 VAG Com software

Coolant Temp Sensor has 2 outputs, 1 to the dash gauge & the other to the ECU. So both get their signal from the CTS & not 2 different places!
IIRC If you go into vagcom engine on measuring block 02 it should show you the temp the ECU is seeing. If the guage is showing a different temp to vagcom your temp sensor is bad.
