Vcds with other makes?

Is it possible to scan other cars than VAG?
I have a megane with same type of socket as audi and airbag light came on.

No, it won't work with a megane mate. Also all modern vehicles (and trucks now) have the same socket. Its a EOBD (european on board diagnostics) socket. There are other makes that VCDS will work on (Bentley and Ford Galaxy, which is VW Sharan anyway, to name a couple), but not a megane.
