I had this and was advided it could be a vacuum leak. I checked all of my hoses and did a TBA and it's been fine ever since ( he says rushing for the closest bit of wood)

I had the same symptoms too

Re: Help! VAG CODE 00561 - Mixture Adaption limit not reached

Right guys...thanks for the advice BUT!!!
The car is throttle cable, and not fly by fire.
A similiar fault occurred about 2 weeks ago which was rectified by a throttle body clean out 2weeks ago by audi...£195, now its reappeared and are now asking £500 for a new thrttle body and fitting...

So it surely cant be TBA?

    Cheers

Chris, I answered your question to this here --> CLICK

BTW, you can do a throttle body adaption on a non drive by wire car. Did one on mine earlier in fact. Also the car automatically does this if you turn on the ignition and just leave it for a min. You can hear the throttle body moving about if you lift the bonnet.

Could it be a Lambda probe problem?
