My A3 needs a scan to diagnose a fault...I'll pay in beer - any takers?

I've a thread running on the Audi A3 P forum regarding this fault and it seems I need a scan to find out what is wrong. Trouble is, I don't know anyone who can do this scan for me and don't just want to walk into an Audi Service Centre without some background knowledge and an idea as to how much this may cost to fix, hence my search for someone who can help me out here. I am in London, W5 but can travel. Below is my post from the P forum:

2003 A3 SE TDI Auto sudden loss of power at speed from newbee Audi owner

I've driven crappy cars for years and finally treated myself to a lovely 2003 A3 TDI Auto 1968CC 3 door with only 53K on the clock - lovely car!
Been driving it around for 1 month just fine.
Today, at speed on the motorway, I had a sudden loss of power. Couldn't get it over 60mph or 4,000 revs, or to any lower gear than 4th. No amount of accelerator pedal pressure made any difference to the car.
When I stopped at the next service station, turned off the ignition then turned it back on again, all was fine until I reached 70mph (usual power, usual response etc) then the problem returned.
When I finally got to the North Circular Road, the car was fine and lovely and responsive so long as I kept below 60mph. Over 60mph and the car lost all power again.

At no point did any warning lights come on, any odd noises or any fumes.

I am completely new to this forum and to the joys of owning a lovely car. (I am also broke having just bought this baby).

I thought I'd ask here as you guys know what you're talking about and I don't! Any suggestions???

    HELP!!!

    With thanks
    This is the car:

Look at the 'sticky' on the first line of this forum. It is the VCDS user map. If you go to the map you will see where there are users willing to help in your area.

Find one and the send them a PM to see if and when they might be available.

Don't go to a main dealer with a car of that age - find a local VAG specialist who will be a lot cheaper.

Your problem could be something simple like a boost pipe leaking or disconnected so don't despair !!

Results of VCDS scan regarding loss of power at speed

I had my car scanned last night (thanks Staz!) and below are the results. The car is currently behaving itself just fine, last time I had a problem with the car losing power at speed was last Thursday.

Any of you experts out there can tell me what to look for/expect to go wrong/prepare for etc from the data below? I note that in the Engine Labels, there was one fault found:
16618 - Boost Pressure Regulation: Limit Exceeded (Overboost Condition) . Does anyone know what that means? Is this a "one off" (hence the reason why it only happened last Thursday) or is it indicative of some sort of intermittent fault that will just nag me from time to time until it fails completely? If you think it's the latter, then I'd be keen to have that fault repaired now before I have some sort of failure.

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks in advance,

    Chris

Turbo vanes are sticking probably. This causes overboost.e

If you look at these Ross-tech fault pages they will give you all the information on your fault codes http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index...:Fault_Codes:-

You should go to a VAG independent specialist for repair costs NOT Audi

    Mike,
    Thanks for the prompt reply.
Any suggestions as to how to get the turbo vanes freed if they are sticking? (Never had a car with a turbo before )
Is this a big job or a small one?
And my instincts agree with your last comment about finding an independent VAG specialist for repair not Audi. Do you also know how I can find such a person in West London?
    Thanks!

There are so-called turbo cleaning kits available but if you don't know what you're doing I should leave it to the experts !!

Shouldn't be too big a job provided the turbo is in reasonable nick. Can't say how much mate because as you can't do it yourself then it depends on the specialist. Bear in mind that you have bought an Audi and they are not cheap to maintain !! lol

If you google VAG Specialists in London you should be able to find hundreds !!!
