no response from controller help plz not the same prob

hi trying to find out why my a3 wont start i brought an cable off ebay got vcds lite the ports check ok
test says port ok interface found.
i can get readings from the abs controller,the central locking & radio
but nothing else if i try any others i get no response from controller any ideas plz
just to say that when i switch my ignition on i only get the battery light to come on but replaced the battery and still the same

Does it say, "K1 Ok, K2 Ok" when you run the test? I'm thinking that one of the two diagnostic bus connections is not functioning.

Hi thanks for reply got everything working now just sat there trying to start car then all of a sudden all the dash lights came on as they should and she started up! now i plugged in the cable and all the controllers now responding! i have switch the car off & on and she`s starts first time but i dont want to drive her in case she dont start again! i have a list of codes to find out about i hope one of them shows the nonstarting prob
