    Question Audi A3 1.8T (2001 '51 Plate)

    Hi,

I have just bought an A3 1.8 Turbo and I'm planning to 'improve' the performance a little?

There is a lot of talk about regarding re-maps and who's the best etc. So far I think Jabba sport will be able to offer the best 'custom' set up so I have that noted.

I also want to fit a Miltek cat back, Miltek Hyperboost DV, Cold Air Induction kit and then do some suspension mods, wheels and brakes! Not a lot then?

I hear a lot of talk saying 'OILED' filters will eventually wreck the MAF sensor, is this true?
Can anyone recommend a good air filter?
What kind of SPRING kit is best for the 1.8T?
What size wheels can I get under the rims without comprimmising on ride quality?
I plan to fit up rated brakes on the standard size - What are the best performing replacement out there?

Last one, Does anyone know where I can get an S3 rear bumper?

    Many Thanks in advance.
    Dave Jones

Would go for APR mayself mate, as for the oiled filter personally i think its a bit of a myth. Had a 1.8t leon for 3 years and ran a carbonio induction kit, it had a filter similar to a K&N and i never had any MAF problems.

If you want a bit of a wooooosh go for a carbonio!

Springs depend on what you want.....coilovers get the best drop but anything over 40mm can cause problems. personally id go for Eibatch springs on your standard shocks (they look exactly the same as factory springs)

even with 18's you will notice a bit of a harsher ride so stay away from 19's.

best bet for your bumper is the dealer, or ebay or ebay germany??

You and me both but I think we're in a minority. Ah, the power of the internet...

    IndieA31.8T,

Don't get too hung up on the 'which is best' argument or you'll be chasing your tail for months. Also, take the 'generic' v. 'custom' discussion with a large pinch of salt too. Stick with the well known tuners and you can't go wrong ie Jabba, APR, Revo, Custom Code, AMD (did I leave anyone out?). They're all much of a muchness but the back up is there should you need it.

Re: Induction kits. I liked my ABD Lan and Green cone filter. That was loud

    Hi Guys,

    Thanks for the replies.
There is an APR dealer 30 miles from me in Surrey, 'Tuningtweeks' They seem OK but I really wanted the AUDI specialist guys, like Jabba.

I think I will get the exhaust, DV, filter & springs first then go from there unless I can get a special bulk buy deal?

    Cheers,

    Dave.

If you are in surrey you could also check out www.mega4.co.uk for Revo chipping. I'm stuck between choosing them & Tuningwerkes right now for the same job!

Not to mention the new springs????

I just hope then do rolling road.

    Cheers,

    Dave.

I popped down there myself to buy a Hyperboost DV & BMC filter, easy to fit both in 20mins yourself with just a screwdriver if you want to save on labour.

They do not include rolling road for the price of the APR software, according to them APR make pre-set templates and they choose the one that best suits your car.

I'm swaying towards Mega4 as its slightly nearer to me & they actually answer the phone lol
