Exhaust Flames

Just came upon this on YT:

And thought it's an interesting mod. Anyone know what's required to do that? What downsides does this have?

watched without sound but from his description he says he's running it a bit rich so I assume it's just unburnt fuel igniting from the heat of the tail pipe once it gets within reach of some oxygen to combust with so would say it is more tuning than a mod as it's a side effect from running too rich?

would be more suited on an S or RS model though. does come across as chavy so please don't hehe

think the r8 v10 plus "**** exposed" advert, after the dyno run and it's winding down and spits out the blue flames on the change downs.....mmmmmm now that is sexy!

Thats just a bit of fuel getting burnt on overrun,and nothing like the sort of thing that cars with ALS used to do.

Also,thankfully not one of those stupid exhaust flamer kits that you can buy.
