Re: Upgrading Turbocharger

[ QUOTE ]
sorry mate but the vf22 is fragile ask any scooby owner. It is ball bearing but of a older design to the vf34.VF22 is a lower-tech compressor compared to the VF34... 5 blade and only 5, where the VF34 is 6 and 2 sets of them.It may be possible to just squeeze 400hp out of one on a 2.0l scooby engine but on a 1.8?I don't think anyone has said a vf34 with p20 housing will produce 400bhp,i said a vf34 with larger compressor wheel housing on porting might just make 400bhp.

[/ QUOTE ]

There is no question that the VF34 uses newer technology with improved bearing design and improved compressor design as you stated.

I have not heard of any issues specific to the VF22 other than the fact that it is 2 / 300 rpm laggier than the 34 (even on the Subaru forums )

Loads of information and comparisons between the VF22 and the VF34.

Re: Upgrading Turbocharger

Anything with a larger compressor wheel and same exhaust turbine will be laggier.Plus the exhaust side will still be restictive so won't see the full potential of the compressor wheel.

Nice one!Make sure they make it a open ended map though so you don't hit limp mode!!Also didn't your mtm chip contain fueling maps for 1.7+bar?Be careful with the AMD remap.

Exactly. Testing! They took 4 days mapping my A3 with the IHI and that with having the code pre-written before they had finished the downpipe. They have got the code perfect and ever so slightly rich for safety (which suites me!).
They are VERY busy these days so just because they have the car for 2 weeks doesnt mean that they will be spending every day of those 2 weeks working on it.

Turbo 900
Fitting 500+vat
remap 850+vat
total=2,500 inc vat
Simon is the first to do it and it's always expensive being the pioneer.
I hope it's worth the cash mate.

Same price here. Why is it more? Because mine (not sure about Simons) was written from scratch (or as near as!) and took a while on the RR to perfect. Worth every penny.

Rolling road sounds good to me.

AmD say that the have tried a number of maps but feel there is still more power to be made, but as Ed was off today I still havnt seen any numbers yet. I think its in good hands.
