dodgy range readings on DIS

hey guys, my mates dad just bought himself a TT, its a 3.2, and hes havin a problem with the range readout on the DIS, from what hes said it just seems to change quite eratically, he said the other day it went from 25miles to zero in about 100 yards? just wonderin if anyone out there has seen anythin like this, im an A3 driver myself so i wouldn`t know if this was just the way TT`s work, thanks in advance

Depends on what he is displaying ie average mpg will flick around

If he means the miles remaining for the level of fuel then the lower end of the scale can adjust quickly , probably more so if you are hammering a v6.

it could however be a problem fuel tank sender if the miles remaining and dash needle are moving at levels similar to each other.
