There is a little disagreement over at NASIOC (subaru forum)...I just wanted to know why was the little wing added to the Audi TT.

A few people exceeded their talent levels (and crashed) the press caused a stink about it. A few died in Germany ( more killed in Boxter crashes in the same period!) and Audi mod'ed the suspension and added the wing to reduce read end lift - IIRC it was a planned mid lfe UG anyway - No doubt others will have an alternative view.

A PR exercise.

Thames Valley Police took the car after it was reported as being dangerous and found no fault.

In fact a friend who tested it there with them bought a TT and kept it spoilerless. There's lots of info/rumour/misinformation out there about it but all the accidents seem explanable quite simply.

You can invoke liftoff oversteer in the TT as in any other car and maybe the spoiler reduces it a little but I am sceptical about it's benefits.
