Can anyone help me?

What is the basis for the mechanicals of the TT? Is it a golf or an A4?

What is the difference between the transverse engines and the in-line, apart from the obvious.

Is the V6 engine a common base with diff. capacities?

the current TT/A3 is more Golf, the new A3 however seems to be more A4.

Typically Transverse engines are fitted where smaller engine bays are created to not compromise the external design.
However I believe more physical ballast weights are used to balance things where in inline it a more balanced by nature of the engine and gearbox being longitudinal and weight distribution can be set by tilting the engine to an even angle.

I think the V6 is completely different to the 1.8 bases dont compare them.

the TT V6 is more R32, the new A3 is a completely different kettle of fish, the wheels may be 5x112 like te A4, but the ET5? wheels have no comparison within the Audi range
