Revo or Shark or APR for TDi remap - advice please!

Well I've made the decision to get a stage 1 remap, now all I need to do is decide which company to use. Not such an easy decision, apparently ... all three are accessible in terms of dealers and all three have promising reviews. I've trawled the forums and I'm still not sure, can't find anything informative and specific for the diesel. Do Shark have the edge in the diesel market?

TT TDi Mk2 - low miles, all ship-shape and ready to be remapped!

All thoughts and advice (including pros and cons) gratefully received

Thanks - I have heard good things about Votex but never actually used them. I spoke to Mike who does the remaps and he seems very knowledgeable and there was no hard sell, plus a money back guarantee if not satisfied which is definitely worth factoring in

TBH, I'd rather deal with an Audi specialist as well, where they understand the cars through and through ... might just be my bias but gives me a bit more confidence that they really know the car as well.

You get what you pay for buddy and all the top maps are slighty different in how they run. Revo and APR can be quite aggressive in the power delivery but thats what some people enjoy. The Shark remap is progressive and strong all the way through the rev range which IMO is better for a diesel due to the higher torque figures so your clutch isnt gonna have a heart attack. As long as you get the remap that does exactly what you want it to do then your onto a winner

Thanks for the advice, guys! The remap will happen next week, either Revo or Shark, and I'm guessing either will do a good job from what's been said

Quick additional question ... the car will be serviced before the remap and I have also put new air and fuel filters in, so that it will be in as good a shape as possible. In terms of clearing out the DPF, what's the best way of doing this? I do a lot of motorway diriving, so have never seen the warning light, but I'd like to do a proper clean if I can beforehand. I've seen 3500 revs at 50mph in 3rd gear for 10 minutes advised rather than thrashing it ... does that sound OK, or would 3500 revs in a higher gear work just as well, as I don't really want to do 50mph on the motorway near me!

Just get it hot, I think the book says 3500 rpm, but a good thrash will do the same, 3500 in 4th maybe?

Or just get the tuner to force a regen/s whilst there anyway & check the registered percentage for dpf before they map, which for me should be the most sensible approach.
