mk1 TT SKC pin code reading??

Hi

i seem to be having a bit of trouble reading the pin code in the earlier mk1 TT. From 2003 onwards everything is fine but any TT's older than that & it either fails or gives me a 5 digit pin code that dosn't start with a 0.

I'm using super vag plus k+can v2 for pin reading & genuine ross-tech vcds for key adaption etc.

Anybody else come across this? if not & you manage to get a 4 digit pin that works from a pre 2003 TT what are you using for pin reading?
