Thread: Gauging interest in Airfield activity day

ok so a long story short....

I have just come back from a Lotus activity day at North Weald airfield in Essex, where you take your own cars and basically thrash them about for the day.

The day consists of the first part of the morning doing a high speed bend, followed by splitting into two groups and doing sprint circuits that are laid out. Then pub lunch followed by swapping onto the other circuit. (These are not race tracks just coned out air strip and last about 1-2 minutes per run). Then weather permitting a larger circuit is laid out which everyone participates in again. You will get around 5-7 attempts at the bend, 3-5 attempts at each circuit and 4-5 attempts at the larger circuit however these are estimates as it will depend on how quickly we get through.

The day runs from 9am to 4pm with around an hour for lunch.

The owner is happy for me to organise an Audi day so I am seeing how many are interested in it, The price will be circa £50 for the day excluding lunch and there are a maximum of 25 places per day.

For those a bit further afield there are local travel-lodges etc for overnight stays.

Just a final note, this is NOT a track day just an airfield that you can race around safely mixed with a social meet, for safety reasons only one person is driving each circuit at a time! however times are taken so people can compete.

If you are interested just say so below and we can go from there, there are already around 18 interested from the 8l section of the forum however all are welcome. Passengers are allowed as the price is per car but I would not recommend more than 1.

If there is sufficient interest I will organise the day and post up the exact cost and date, with the full 25 people the cost will be closer to £45

As stated, I don't mind this, for 50 quid, it doesn't sound too bad. I don't mind just turning up to spectate also, if anyone is more keen than me for testing their cars out! 25 spaces isn't much.

Just a little update, the provisional date I have is possibly sunday 21st of august, This a problem for anyone?

sounds good to me too! hopefully by then ill have a few extra performance tweaks on the car to make it that little bit snappier!

Right as you all know nothing ever runs smoothly, the 21st was booked this morning so.... the next sunday available is in OCTOBER! or we can look at dates closer i.e july or august that are during the week..... apologies.

Yeah, with enough notice hopefully others can too I would propose friday 5th august, that way I have enough time to fully organise the event and collect the monies etc plus everyone else has enough time to book it off work :D

Ok boys and girls, I have booked the day for the 5th of august and it will need to be paid for by the 24th june.

The price per car will be £45

All cars are welcome apart from high-sided vehicles. These include Q3 and Q7's from the audi range. This will be open to non-audi owners in the middle of june if the 25 spaces are not filled ( so tell your mates), you can pm their names and I will construct a reserves list.
This will be on a first come first serve bias.

Ok boys and girls with only 18 days to go until monies are required and only 10 people on the list we need some more people else it's not gonna happen. the long and short is it costs £1100 for the day and the cost is divided between how many come so that's how I priced the day BUT... with less people it will either cost more per person or not happen at all. I will repost in some sections of the forum but I am all ears for any ideas to boost numbers. It is now open to anyone so PM me if your friends etc want to come

Would love to commit to this but my car needs acouple of bits doing first, a mate did it a couple of weeks a go in his hairdressers MX5 and said it was good, well worth the money. Would be gutted to miss out as its only 15 mins from me.

yeah im very interested plus the owner of the garage who built my car wants to come
