Thread: New site?

whats going on? have i missed something, i liked the old site much better, i like the dark backgroud. Now my laptop battery life going p*ss poor with all these white screens everywhere
Bring back the BLACK background, PLEASE!!!!

This will take a while to get used to, but certainly more modern & minimalistic, at 1st glance wasnt my thing but honestly I think its becoming appealing to my eyes, lol

Not I'm vane just an observation, has the new update removed the thanks options aswell, just curious.

Mmmm, not too sure, will give it a day or so to sink in.

All the thanks has vanished too!

oh yea, i hope they will bring that back!

Too bright for my eyes, not fond of the revolving logo thingy and is there a need for the "blog this post" tab?

it seems the way lots of software is. 3DSMAX 2010 is the same, After Effects CS4 too. It will grow on me i'm sure.

I like it after a few posts & views, flows real nice, albeit few features needed to be readded, but nice upgrade Rob, well done.

I cannot comment as the first thing I knew was logging on now.

VBulliten 4 update and PHP update. AFAIK the database was backed up so the thanks are saved, however i feel there is an issue intergrating them with the updated software.

Hang fire guys i am sure it will sort itself out, i expect there will be a few revisions yet in the next few days etc.

Give it time gents and ladies, it will all be good in the end.

Will just take some getting used to I think.

The 'whiter' colour will be good for undercover surfing at work

Is it me or is it much slower to load?

I dont mind the white, just suprising a lot of folks because the old one was so black!

and an integrated spell checker as well which I hope a few newbies will use.

Right folks,

First of all, as above, we've had a big overhaul to the shiniest newest version of the software engine which runs our little corner of teh intarweb. ("VB4")

So, with VB4 comes a good list of new and revised features, but the key ones you'll notice are:

1) The Blog system (and above is the proof that you'll notice things ) - The Wikipedia link posted above explains it pretty well (and remarkably without much spurious nonsense), but for those who have got down here without clicking said link...

So, you can now start your own blogs, about pretty much anything (stuff which violates the rules (is offensive, illegal, profiteering etc.) is the poster's responsibility and liable to be deleted (with possible 'punishment' sanctions too) when we're alerted to it. Put simply... Use it, enjoy it, but please don't abuse it.

Also there is the new CMS (the Front (/Home) Page) - this is the tidiest and most functional system yet, and although there's not much there yet (we wanted to get the forum back up and running ASAP and tweak the other bits later) - you'll see stuff starting to appear there in the near future, and I'll post again in more detail.

Then there's the forum itself, there are lots of cool little tweaks and new features built into the way the board works, you wouldn't need to Google to discover what they are if you're a regular user as you'll probably trip over things as you go... I'm sure the vast majority of the new bits will be welcome (even if it takes a little while to get used to it). As regards the look and feel of the place, again - we're happy that it's more than good enough to get the forum back live for people to use - there will be some tweaks as we go along and we're already working on new functionality in the aesthetics department.

As regards Thanks and Garages and other little things we'd added in the previous version, well tough. They're gone. ...Only kidding We'll try to get some of the more important/useful bits n bobs integrated again in the very near future - and NHN, if you're good, we might even try and restore your Thanks-count More news to follow...

Oh my main prob is the missing smilies on quick reply and the squished up ones in advanced on my lappy screen, it is running an archaic 1024x 800 mind

You can only do that in this forum, the clue is in the bit in the description where it says "Guest Posting Enabled" - a Site Support section isn't much use if people who can't join the community can't post to tell you

My thoughts initally, howver the site was slow at times, Lets hope they bring back the black background

As for the home page, looks like it hasnt loaded properly (black script on dark grey background) and ill be damned if i can read the red script on a grey background.

Hmmm im sure it will grow on me...

Unread bold text isnt bold enough or the background is to light i dunno its just not nice .

New site looking good! Classifieds section is a bit hard to read though.
