    Site New Colours and changes

As you might have noticed I have removed the other threads about the the site changes as they were starting to loose the point of what was trying to be be done and why do we need more than one thread about this anyway? So let's keep this simple..

Rather than have one style we now have a few. The main one is ASN and this the official layout that we will be working on and taking forward. We have left the old theme there as we fully understand that people don't always like change and want a dark version. I have to say that on my computer the dark version is fine and works but I have seen it on other computers where it does looks bad.

The new version is meant to be cleaner and easier to use for everyone. We will also be looking at a mobile version.

What we want feed back from you all. We are not going to go away from from this basic style so there is no point saying that you don't want it or can we make it black again

If you see a fault please let us know (I have seen two since I started this thread) if you see a problem on the browser you use (as long as it isn't some strange browser that only you use) let us know.

I hope that you all get on with this new look and thanks for the feed back

Personally I prefer the GrayFolio version. Slightly softer on the eyes than the White but I could live with either.

Prefer this white version - easier to read. No problems with IE8 / no faults seen so far.

Looks nice and clear, just hope its compatible with IE6, as thats all we have at work, and we are unable to change it, therefore it was VERY difficult to see the previous version.....

Will have to check and update accordingly, unless you can advise of this??

    Looks great.

Only problem I have is one that I reported a while ago and it's still happening. I've tried with FF3, IE 7 and 8 and it does the same thing.

When I click Mark Forums Read I get the following error message:
Your submission could not be processed because a security token was invalid.

If this occurred unexpectedly, please inform the administrator and describe the action you performed before you received this error.

    Thanks for checking it out.

I tried clearing the cookies before I posted as I know they are the cause of a lot of log-in related problems.

Is it just me or is the site slower. It was fine yesterday and this morning but has all of a sudden slowed down to how it was in the bad ol' days.
Also pages are intermittently not loading properly. I'm using latest Firefox.

EDIT: The speed is lumpy, not consistently slow or fast. A bit of both really, from minute to minute.

Can you keep mental note for the next 24 hours and post back to let us know how it's behaved? We're installing/updating/configuring some stuff on the server at the moment and that may be having a bit of an impact. The most intensive bits should be done and dusted now though...

    Cheers,

Well you're just too darn smiley then fella!

No, seriously - this is one we're aware of. The queue for the pan is a few fish deep at the moment, but we'll get that one bent-straight in the not too distant...

The width changes with the different colour schemes selected, using IE 8, this affects the sub forum titles to the right in the NEW POSTS page, as it will only show NEW for 8P section where as other schemes show NEW A3/S3 8P etc etc, full title.

I no longer need to swap between compat mode when in different forum sections so thats good.

Can you please fix the issue where the number of posts listed follows your profile setting, as its been stuck at 20 for a very long time now, wont change even with profile adaptions.

Grayfolio is nice, but the inbox, profile etc links at top right in black are hardly viewable.

TBH the speed has been very good of late.

Any chance that we can also have a Selected Message drop down option at the top of the inbox section aswell as bottom?

All good here as well. White is much better IMO.

No issues to report through either Chrome, IE7 or IE8 as I use all three in various places.

    Cheers for the feedback all...

Nige, I don't fancy fiddling with the widths on those styles which display narrower, distorting some elements of the layout at the moment; I'll want to duplicate the styles and stuff like that before I start tinkering too much - the vB style system is a pretty scary thing to work with! As for the other things, I'll add those to our current to-do list, I don't imagine they'll pose problems...

Speed seems to be fine today. I'm using IE8 and cannot see any problems at the moment. Looking much better than the BLACK.

My posts now go all the way across the screen where as with the Black version they only when 2/3rds of the way across. (using IE8 on both)

No worries I understand the methods to be used, stands to reason technically.

Thanks look forward to features running when poss.

Not so good, I tried to do a "reply with quote" to your post & it just hung spinning round showing its working on it but nadda, niente, nothing, happened several times even after a page reload & browser has been cleared beforehand, now if I clicked it twice it went to the advanced reply screen, weird, can anyone else dupe this issue or just a small glitch?

Oooh first time I've been on in a couple of days and have to say I love the new scheme. Old scheme wasn't too bad, but vast improvement IMO!

Not found any problems so far just browsing around in Safari (mac version incase it makes a difference).

    No probs, will do.

So far, over the last hour and a half (8:45am to 10:15am) I have managed to get on the forums for about 10mins in total. The rest of the time I've been getting the 'server busy' message.

Had trouble accessing the site at all for the last hour or so, but I would guess you're probably aware of this already!

    Seems OK now.

I cut the writing out of the black baground, turned it blue, and stuck it on a transparent background; et voila!

Has anybody else noticed that you can amend the title of a thread you created by double clicking on blank space of that thread in the forum list.
It then allows you to change the name.
Only seems to work in the General Chat forum though.
