New A38P.
Has anyone found where to connect a cable for the headunit so that it switches off when you pull the key out.

Fuse "Radio S-Kont" but newer Audi's don't seem to have this wired. I couldn't find one fuse in the entire fusebox that provided this feed on my 02 A4 so had to have it permanently live as didn't want it switching off with the engine.

Newer Audi's do not have this indeed, found a feed but when you switch igintion off it switches stereo off before you pull the key. Not nearly so handy as the previous model was.

I checked the wiring diagrams in Elsawin & found one behind the ignition barrel on my A4 02 B6 & my Kenwood head unit stays on until key is removed.

It’s a switched live that tells the convenience unit the key is still in.

Well I guessed there must be one somewhere as the ignition clicks when you take the keys out. Was there any wiring to it on the ignition barrel?

Yes small gauge red wire

It is part of the ignition switch & takes its feed from the ignition barrel positive feed.

I connected up with very small fuse and relay to be safe .

I will dig out the wiring diagram and post if you like

I wonder where the small gauge red wire goes?
Good info though, thanks

The wire goes to 235 on the diagram IIRC it went to the central convenience unit.
