Audi A3 Remap Cardiff Area?

Im looking at getting a remap for my Audi A3 2.0 TDI (140) its the 8PA version (2005), im looking for a good reliable remap centre but ive heard theres a few not so good ones around so i want to avoid them, i would like info on cost and what effects a remap would have on my car, you know, from 140BHP to ???? Etc

A generic remap (i.e not done on a rolling road and tweaked to suit the individual car), will likely cost £150-£250.

Generally speaking you should see 140bhp become 180 (+/-5), and 320nm become 380/390.

Generic maps can be a tad smokey under hard acceleration, as it is basically turning up the fueling and altering boost levels at various points in the rev range. A custom map will likely not see much more gains than a generic one but the advantage is less/no smoke as the mapper can see when the car is smokey and adjust the map to suit.
 
Would you call a REVO / Bluefin map generic then??

Generic is a bit of a nasty term. A good generic map will have been tried and tested to give the best performance / drivability

Custom I would say is for those with upgraded hardware. Also you should never have your car mapped around any issues you have. If the car is smokey with a good generic map then you have underlying hardware issues

How many miles has the car done??
 
Thats some great info right there, thanks a lot, to both replies, my car is 9 years old and its done close to 120,000 miles so the BHP is probably lower than the factory setting of 140BHP, although it does still feel great to drive and is pretty fast as is, 0-60 in 8-9 seconds which i think is pretty good considering the age (2005), its just been serviced aswel, i was told its in v-good condition, so it may have lost less BHP then i think, i take it this will be tested before a remap is done?
 
The weak point on the 140 is the turbo but any tuner will do a diagnostic check to ensure its boosting properly and not doing anything weird. However thats not to say it may let go post remap :(
 
Been considering a remap myself. As far as im aware there is a Audi/VW specialist in Barry, heard some good things about them.

Also sorry to hijack thread but, Rhyso noticed you were on VCDS map, have done any coding for anyone? Im looking for someone to give the car a once over to check for errors and also to code in the remote windows by using the key fob.
 
I got the awsome gti manchester map £150 plus fitted egr blank plate and had egr mapped out by awsome gti aswell £30 well happy you will notice the difference right away

i mapped mine myself with a map i bought from blacksmokes website. ran solid with no issues, nice smooth power
 
had mine done by gotboost in pyle, good service craig knows what he is on about to, he has done 3 of my cars so far with no problems

Another for gotboost here, decent place. Was filled with Nobles and meth injection Leon's last time I went.

And an Alsatian dog.....

It's a facinating workshop, ex BTCC cars, Porsches, crazy engine conversions, you name it & they also run a race team, driver training school & diagnostic training centre too.

thought it was a german shepard lol but ye loads of intresting cars in there, had a nice old audi quattro in there to
