S3 where arches

I have a 2002 s3 And my friend has a 2002 a3. Are the wheel arches the same size on both cars or is it an optical illusion with the wheel
Width that the s3 looks wider?

I know it's a stupid question but when we realised we didn't have a tape measure to check it out

S3 arches are wider than the A3.
 
Thanks for that, I have found some sources on like saying yes and some saying no... No wonder it looks so squat compared to it

Yes quite a difference when you park an A3 and S3 side by side
 
Wings, bumpers, trim, not sure about bonnet.
Prob loads more.

entire shell, engine, gearbox, turbo, exhaust, subframe, suspension, brakes, steering rack, seats, steering wheel, even the head lining is different.

Very few parts shared between the A3 and S3 at all infact!
