Hi,

Wondered if anyone can help with a query I have please.

I am currently in the market to buy an S3. I found one that interested me.

I phoned Audi customer services to check the car's history and options it came with.

The advisor told me that this particular S3 came with lowered suspension?
I replied that I thought all S3's come with that as standard?

He double checked and said that the upgraded suspension pack is an option only.

I can't seem to find anything on this, does anyone know how an S3 with this upgrade would compare with the standard car?

Many thanks!

Never heard of uprated......uprated suspension.

I did once find some information once that seemed to show a "sports" option for the S3. Appears to be 20mm lower...

Do you have any idea what the option code is for this on your car?

Should be in your service record book, would be interested to know what the option code was if there was one.

For ref my standard suspension codes are:

L21 = suspension range 21
1JF = rear sports shock absorption
G21 = front shock absorption

A few years ago i put all my codes into a de-coder online and got them all back with a description....http://igorweb.org/equidec/

Not 100% sure, but I think early S3's has sport suspension as an option, which is Gmbh springs basically, and are 10mm lower than standard? Later models with the 18" RSTT wheels as an option had the Gmbh suspension as part of the 18" wheels package.. that's what I think it is.

Needs confirmation though....

GmbH was an option on the very last of the S3s - I think only with the 18" RS4 type wheels fitted.
I seem to recall it was 20mm lower as has been suggested.

Thanks for all the advice guys, I think you are spot on.

Its an 03 registered car and does infact come with the 18" RS4 type alloys!
