Hi all...
A while back I posted about a loss of satellite signal on my RNSe Sat Nav plus system in my A6 C5 avant. The AM reception has been missing for a good while, but I'm starting to miss it now and I think the two issues may be connected.
The gps connection came back (so I attributed the loss to the solar flare, no less...) and worked for a few months without any problem, but it has now failed again.
I took the car into an Audi specialist today and they ran a VGC scan on the system. They found no errors with the GPS or the radio antenna.
But, the unit was struggling to pinpoint me, alternating between 0 and 3 satellites on my way home from work. Normally, it finds 8 or 9 satellites and has no problem. It's currently sitting at 0 satellites outside my house, with my position about a half mile off.
I was doing a search online and found something about an antenna booster, mounted in the tailgate. I think the part number is 4B9035225B, but I'm not certain.
If this were faulty, would this cause the problems I'm experiencing?
If not, does anyone have any other ideas?
The antenna is also in pretty bad shape - the rubber is all perished at the base and I don't know if the wire itself is still in good condition. The garage did open up the panel under the antenna, where the boot light is located, and they found it bone dry with no visible issues.
Any help would be much appreciated as I miss my satnav terribly...
Thanks!
A.
