RNE-E and TMC - anybody with advice

Hello,
I've looked for some info re RNS-E and its bulit-in TMC (Traffic Message Channel). Does anybody think its useful in normal situation? I know it displays major roadworks, accidents etc, but does it change chosen route on navi automaticly while driving?

Sorry for asking, but im just curious how it works. Cos IMHO its useless if u need to swich it over between 'navi' and 'info' buttons while driving, nad it may not be pretty safe looking for traffic info and looking at the rns-e screen instead of the road.

Any ideas how it works?

if you have a route selected it will re-route you when it detects traffic problem....the lady will also tell you that your being re-routed...
