For sale is my Audi A3 1.8T. As per the ad title the car is a non runner and requires a replacement engine.
The cause was down to oil pump failure, which starved the top end of oil and oil pressure. This subsequently cause the rear chain control on the camshafts to also lose oil pressure and allowed the chain to jump which altered the camshaft timing.
As a result the cam timing is out, which caused the engine to stop, there is suspect bent valves and consequently no compression on cylinders 1 & 4 and a 60% loss on cylinders 2 and 3.
The total loss on cylinders 1 and 4 is the big worry and needs an engine specialist to investigate or alternatively a new engine.
A new oil pump was put in and oil once the engine had stopped as it was suspected this was the fault - had to be replaced as there was no oil pressure. However once replaced and an attempt at a restart it was evident there was more damage.
This would make an ideal project for someone good mechanically or someone who has an engine to go straight it.

The car prior was an absoloute joy to drive. It is imaculate inside and out so having the engine go on me just like that has been very gutting indeed.

I am open to reasonable offers, if no joy I will break the car but this is a last resort as it would be devastating to see such a nice example go to waste.
