Ceramic brake disc - cost to replace

Read with horror in some of the threads here that a single ceramic brake disc would cost 3000 pounds to replace.
Is that even possible? And are these discs something to be afraid of? Like damage by a stone stuck between the disc and the caliper?

I can't remember what the cost of them is now but it's now where near £3k! IIRC it's around £500ish but will have to double check.

pjm - these ceramic discs are MASSIVELY expensive. They're several thousand pounds EACH.

If they were only c£500 each, i.e. approx 2x the cost of normal discs, we'd all be driving around in them! They're that expensive as they last something likme 10x as long (supposedly), and emit the build up of gases alot more efficiently through the rotors, thereby massively improving the braking force...

that's right. One single ceramic disc is ~2,600.00 pounds (2,920.00 EUR) & pad is ~350.00 pounds (390.00 EUR) in Germany!

I thought they were double the normal but after checking I can confirm they are.......

Discs = £ 2,236.70 each
Pads = £ 304.73
