Hi all, just got back from my holiday trip to somerset and as this was the first (proper) motorway drive for the new car I was very excited.

Overall the journey was about 230 miles and so I did all the maths.

Averaged 25.2mpg (average motorway speed around 70-80 mph with the occasional burst and traffic jams on the M6 near Birmingham)

My majour concern was however the amount of oil it used, which is the main point of me making this post. I checked the oil level before we set off friday morning and the level was at least 3/4 up the dipstick.

Before I left somerset I checked it again and was down to just below half the dipstick, so I put about 250ml in the engine. (Both times I checked when the engine was cold and so didnt want to fill to the top of the dipstick)

Is this normal for oil consumption? I did do a fair few miles around Burnham-On-Sea when I was there.

On a side note I had a lovely time exploring round there, took everyone to Cheddar Gorge and had a lovely day, however them 270 steps near killed me!
