Two of my friends (same age as me) are with admiral, one with a 2009 R35 GTR and the other with a 700bhp Stage 3 APR TTRS (mods declared), and they pay similar prices. They like an up front payment but if you want to pay monthly I would have had to pay over 2k?!

I thought I'd shop around for Insurance this time, even spoke to Adrian Flux, but they wanted £1300, in the end Admiral came up with £580 so i stayed with them.

Surprising how all the so called "Specialist" insurers always seem to be more expensive

    Hi.
With Insurance, it's always tricky with this sort of thing.

'Specialist' Insurers, are Brokers (like ourselves) who have access to a wide range of Underwriters; many of those Underwriters will offer specialist cover and policies for classic/modified/high-performance cars etc.
However, it is worth mentioning that almost everything with Insurance is down to claim-statistics, and that depending on your details and the vehicle etc, Brokers are not always able to get a quotation from all of their specialist companies.

One piece of advise I would ALWAYS give is to call insurers for this type of car. I'm sure you may have, but it is worth spending those few extra minutes every renewal to do this. Mainly because there are very few Specialist Underwriters that will quote for Brokers on the Comparison sites. On them you will simply get the 'standard car markets' quoting a lot of the time.

Brokers like ourselves arealways looking to be competitive. When your polciy is due again you are welcome to PM me or drop us a line (if you want to, of course) and we will endeavour to compete with any quotes you have obtained (or have already).

    Many thanks,

    Dan
    Adrian Flux.

Its not a "tricky thing" its the same car, driving history and postcode for whatever insurance company anyone uses for a quote the long and short of it you were too expensive over double in fact [£720] the same scenario as what happened when Vito asked yourselves for a quote and when i got a quote off yourselves when i had my RS3,you are just not competitive and don't want to insure RS3's at a reasonable price.

The thing that really annoyed me is that I had requested a call from Adrian Flux which i got, however i run my own business so at the time they rang i was in the middle of a job, so i asked if they'd ring me back in a couple of hours, guess what ? they didn't ring back !!

I RANG THEM a few days later, even then though the chap i spoke to didn't seem the slightest bit bothered about my enquiry, it honestly felt like he was just 'going through the motions' then when the higher price came back, i told him it was more than the renewal price, he started going on about double checking the details that i had given Admiral as he seemed to think they'd made an error !!(or is he implying i'm simple maybe ?)

You don't need to be a rocket scientist to answer some questions about what you drive and your driving history do you ??

A lot of companies [not just insurance] need to come into the 21st century. With the power of internet the days have long gone where we are a captive audience and companys can charge what they like,i don't mind any company i deal with making money what i object to are companys that take us for granted and try and come across as they are doing me a favour.

The wife works for a large Brokers and she gets preferential rates as well.
We ended up using Admiral for Lightning (RS3) as it's modded and her companies wouldn't cover it. Once she got that quote we ended up adding her Q3 as it was just so much cheaper!

    Hi guys.

Sorry to hear about the above. With regards to 'going through the motions', our quotes staff should not act in such a way. We pride ourselves on our customer service levels and will always try our best for customers. If you would like to PM me your details I will forward this onto a Quotes manager to look into this.

Brokers like ourselves use many different Underwriters. We have no official 'say' in what our prices are etc. Our job is to take your details to the Underwriters and see if they will be abel to offer us a competitive deal. it's not that we 'don't want' to offer good quotes on RS3's, otherwise there would be no point us being on Forums like this one. We cannot 'magically' give everyone the best rate...we can only do as good as cheapest Insurer we have for a specific vehicle.

Vehicles such as this are very nice cars. Due to their nature, they only fit a certain amount of Insurance companies. We use a selection of these, but it is not just down to the car. Everything with insurance is down to 'claim statistics'. It is a sad fact, but true.
If an insurer has had lots of claims on a particular type of vehicle, they will charge more for that than other cars, purely because it is deemed as a 'higher risk'. It doesn't matter what the car is...it's just a fact.
It's the same with certain occupations/addresses etc. The more claims associated...the higher the price.
It all depends on the individual Insurers and how many claims THEY have had with the details etc.

We have many RS3's insured at competivite prices with us; it may just be that in some of the cases above, the companies that Admiral use have had less claims on this type of car/area/occupation etc etc (whetever they may be looking at), and can therefore give a better price.

Whilst online comparisons do make it easy to obtain cheap quotations, they are still acting under 'assumptions' with many details.
I appreciate it is easy to type in your details online but you would be surprised how many customers Insurers gain each year who's details are not correct from the comparison site they came from. That is why we will sometime ask customers to 'double check', more for your benefit than ours as the LAST thing you want is to be incorrectly covered due to one minor detail that the comparison site got wrong.
It doesn't matter if you get a quote online or on the phone...no Insurers quote 'what they like' and expect you to stay with them. It is the biggest myth there is with Insurance.
The entire point of brokers like ourselves is to try and compete with quotations you have had elsewhere. Admiral and similar companies are brokers just like us. As the markets and claim statistics change, there will be years when some Companies are cheaper than others for a certain car (or a risk in general)....but then that can change on a regular basis and/or be reversed completely. It's nothing that Broker can change or do anything about, apart from try their best to compete where possible.

That is why I would always advise to 'shop around' every year, because it is a volatile and competitive industry and rates change all the time.

Hopefully this has been some help to clear up things.
As before I will happily look into any quotes further if anybody wants to PM me at any point. If not, no problem at all.

    Many thanks.
