they look good, but remember you can run 18'' winters, which will save quite of bit of cash when it comes to the tyres

I would be careful about the offset (ET) ... it is stated as 35mm in that ad (if my German is correct !)

And here's the ET explanation diagram for the original 19inch x 8J RS3 wheel again, just in case:

So, if you're looking at 8J wheels with an ET of 35mm then the 68mm dimension (as shown in the diagram above) will INCREASE by 15mm (50-35) and the effect of which is that the wheel will stand 15mm further OUT from the hub i.e., 15mm CLOSER to the wheel arch = Ooops!

    Be VERY careful!

Professor, errrr I mean John what's the recommended et for 8.5 rims?

Also do you think you could put a 8.5 on the rear with a 235 tyre?

One of 750 RS3, Ibis White, Buckets, Privacy glass, Black styling, Cruise control, Bose, Scorpion Cat Back Non-Resonated exhaust system.

    Hey Neil, welcome home...

Ok, we know that the 8J rim with a 235/35 does fit and has sufficient clearance (just) with 4/5 up.

    So lets do the math…

    1) Overall 'fitted' width of a 235/35 tyre on an 8J rim is: 246mm (taken from ETRTO tables)

The 'ET' of the 8J rim is: 50mm (taken from Audi wheel rim markings)

    So, 246mm divided by 2 = 123mm

And 123mm minus 50mm = 73mm i.e., the distance from the mounting face to the outside edge of the as fitted tyre

    2) Overall 'fitted' width of a 235/35 tyre on an 8.5J rim is: 251mm (taken from ETRTO tables)

The 'ET' of the 8.5J rim is: 53mm (taken from Audi wheel rim markings)

    So, 251mm divided by 2 = 125.5mm

125.5mm minus 53mm = 72.5mm i.e., the distance from the mounting face to the outside edge of the as fitted tyre

0.5mm MORE clearance Neil, you decide, it's very, very tempting…

And until you asked the question, and I did the sums Neil, I didn't know that!

What a can of worms you've opened Neil, a right Pandora's box I'll be bound…

    And here's a wheel/tyre data diagram:

Yea, unfortunately I've purchased a set of winter Vredestein tyres for my existing RS3 rotors (same like 45bvtc).

Will be posting my shiny new brakes protected via POR-15 (thanks to 45bvtc again) as well.

Will be looking for a set of summer 19" rims but the fronts at 8.5J come spring time...

    Cheers
