    Car in dealer for brakes and front sub frame alignment

    My 5855 mile RS3 went in today for the 'official' brake fix, also (they added at drop off) fuel pump recall ?? and software update.

    A week ago i noticed NSF Tyre worn on inside edge (to point of needing new soon) and had it checked at local tyre place (guys i have dealt with for 20 years) on 4 wheel laser alignment - way to correct - adjust front sub frame alignment !

    Dealer said that 4 wheel alignment is a 2 hour job. Umm.

    I will let you know if they charge me to fix a problem that surely should be right on delivery - how can a sub frame slip out of alignment from the odd pot hole? Any thoughts?

    David

    David, PLEASE ask your Audi dealer to CHECK if the 'existing' pads are 'STUCK' of 'FREE' in the caliper.

    Your Audi dealer will most probably remove the caliper with pads as a unit, but they should then be able to easily review. PLEASE, please ask!

    And if possible, as to see the brake caliper assembly post removal - and check for yourself…

    My reasoning asking is that I still believe that it is the pad to caliper fit that is the issue!

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    As for the 4-wheel alignment, you MUST get that done at an Audi dealer, as the car needs 'loading' in an approved manner - even to having a 'full' fuel tank, maybe!
    I chewed the front tyres after 4k mls. NSF was gone on inside edge! (partly my fault). Queried it with the Master Tech and said surely it can't be right to get through tyres so quick. They found the alignment to be way out! Didnt say it was a 2hr job though!?
    My front brakes have been exchanged although I've not had chance to pick it up yet.
    BLUEY's fronts (235/35s @ 41psi) have done 3K miles and the wear pattern is consistent side to side.
    Wear on the fronts (235/35s @ 41psi) is 1mm more than on the backs (225/35s @ 39psi).
    BLUEY's now running 255/30s on the front (@ 41psi) and 235/35s on the rear (@ 39psi) - and that has resulted in a much better ride!
    New front brake pads fitted that are of a softer compound - so I'm told.
    They also did the alignment FOC, and two recalls - 80T9 and 39E1, not sure which is which but one is fuel pump and the other is software.
    Happy so far !
    39E1 is the Haldex and 20T9 is the Fuel Pump
    SVM01A098 and SVM02A039 is the ECU
    46F8 is the Offside Front Brake Duct while 4716 is the Brake Caliper and Brake Pads and Brake Discs
    48J6 is the Steering (checksum error only)
    Hope this helps
    Edited to add:
    For the RS3 with Bose there's a Radio/Nav update but I do not know the 'Code'
    TPI2029738 is a Code change for the Rear License Plate Illumination, Rear Wipe, etc
    2029184/1 is for the RS3 Co-Driver Sport Seat - which has been reported as noisy (rattles)
    Not sure Gary, all I have is "checksum error". The update was issued 24.Feb.12 and applies 'in particular' to MJ2012 vehicles in All Countries - so the update may NOT apply to your actual car.
