Parking Tickets on own doorstep & Untaxed Vehichles

First of all I appreciate these enforcement officer b’stards have a job to do but why the hell can’t they use a bit of common sense every now and again!!!

If I get done for a third time on the road I live on of all places he will get a bucket of cooking oil and water thrown over him!!! (It’s about the least non violent act I can think of short of beating him to death with a mop).

My road is extremely busy being close to a main road, so many use it as a rat run / park close to shops etc etc… The council have also made things worse by extending the double yellow lines which has taken away 8 more spaces from the local residents.

I’m now in a predicament where every time I leave my house there is nowhere close to park the car on my return and I’m not talking about parking up the road we’re talking about parking on a different road completely… (This is the case everyday bar Sunday) Many times I’ve had to sit in the car waiting for a space or going off for a couple of hours before returning to find no spaces.

I’ve been stung twice in the past few months by the same A-Hole who refuses to allow me to move the car even though I have seen him (called out from the window hang on mate…) before he issues a ticket.

I contested both tickets on the grounds of the first one being that only the front wheel was over the double yellow line and the second because it was the second ticket and the fact the council have stitched the local residents out of 8 more spaces… What do you think they replied with – same standard pieceof**** letter in the first place about zero tolerance bull****. I’ve since also noticed that in the pictures that a drain sits over one of the double yellow lines – is that enough to make it void? I have even suggested they make the road a residential parking zone only which I would happily pay for.

Now what makes this whole situation is worse is that for the past month some Mofo has dumped their untaxed vehicle outside my house. Does that get clamped or issued with a ticket NO!!! I have complained over 5 times to both the DVLA and Local council - has anyone bothered to come out and have a look or do something about it NO.

Obviously I’m rather annoyed; sure we all get the odd ticket every now and again but being issued with a PCN on your own doorstep takes the piss big time and the untaxed vehicle will be blown up if its not taken away soon (joke)

Help guys I need sympathy or at least a plan of action before I take matters into my own hands!!!

Tell the police you have an abandoned car outside your house and may have a bomb inside....that will get them to your house in atleast a few days lol

No point telling the police, they will just point you to the DVLA, i had the same thing, called the police, they didnt want to know, said its nothing to do with them as it wasnt reported stolen!!!

DVLA wont be bothered either, so its a no win situation i guess, they wardens dont care at all, you have to remember its all about targets to them.

Last week i was parked up in a parking bay, and there was a disabled spot behind me, so some dude parked up in there in his MR2, walked out and crossed the road, the warden came from nowhere and started with the ticket, less than 20 seconds, the driver comes back and asks the warden what he was doing, to which he responded are you disabled, he said no, warden says well heres your ticket then!!!

I know he shouldnt have parked there, but all of this in the space of 30 seconds is a bit crazy isnt it!!!?

...What if the untaxed vehichle had the words NO TAX sprayed on the side facing the road, do you think it would get noticed?

I had the same problem in Reading, I had to pay half the tickets, but I did get the other half cancelled as I got them on technicalities. A couple of tickets has the road name mis-spelt, so I said "how can I park on a road that doesn't exist?". A couple of them got issued as I got to the car and he didn't have time to take his stupid "proof" pictures, so I asked them to prove it, and "suspected" he was issuing bogus tickets. Once I drove off and he had the nerve to throw the ticket through my window as I drove off, of course without a picture of it on the windscreen, I ignored that ticket altogether as it was never stuck on the car, and they never chased it.

Like you there was a car dumped at my doorstep, killing off one precious space. Police yawned, and DVLA said they made a note, council did nothing. We pushed the car out out of that spot to the very end of the corner (we lived at a corner) and halfway into the road so nothing wider than a unicycle could go through, and tada, it was gone upon my return a few days later, I made sure I was not around to find out how it got removed though.

Good luck with your tickets though. You could always make the area chav friendly, they normally pick on the ticket guys for fun, but you risk not having a car to park at all in the area later.

Yes, I would try and tow this untaxed car onto a bit of double yellow, so he gets a few tickets first haha.

As for the MR2 parking on Disabled space, he got caught... haha again.

Not 100% on the technicalities but i know all road marking have to have an end and a start marker, These are lines which go across the original lines.. If for example part of the yellow lines are split you would argue that there is no end/start markers.

Therefore if theres a drain over part of the line i would guess the drain must be painted too?

Thought about moving it but theres always been a car on either side and i know I'd get spotted for sure!

How about I put my own clamp on it...

My wheels are on either side of the drain its not painted (just a smidge on the edge of the drain but only on the left side).

Have to agree with waht others ahve said re the un taxed car - now if it happened to be in the center of the road blocking the road - it would soon be removed. Trolley jack and 1 person can move a car - but its easier with two trolley jacks & two people by the way.
Take pics of the marking on the road as I know of people that have had tickets squashed due to incorrect markings.
Traffic warden does sound a bit like the normal a**holes that they are.

Actually if you report it to the police as abandoned and it's on a road residential or main, I think they are supposed to move it. They will then bill the registered owner for the removal. We had some abandoned cars left on the industrial estate where my business is, upon contacting them they wouldn't move it because it was private land, but when it mysteriously ended up on the road they came and took it away.

True and if it causing an obstruction ie center of the road its moved a lot faster than if its parked neatly up - I know this from experience.

Check the double yellow lines and any associated signing conforms to the TSRGD (Traffic Sign Regulations & General Directions) as can be found on the DfT website.

I cant belive the police werent interested. A few years ago my brother asked me to look at his old Escort RE its upcoming MOT, told him bin it. He arranged a guy to buy it for spares & transfered the insurance onto his new runaround. Guy never turned up so it sat at his doorstep for few weeks running out of tax. It got hit by a passing car (God knows how???) and the helpfull neighbours phoned the police. Upshot, he got charged with no road tax or insurance and driving for less that 2 years meant he got banned from driving for 6 months.......
