Ok no-ones gonna like me for this one......

Replica wheels why!?!?! Unoriginal and guarenteed to buckle the first time you hit a pothole. How many threads are there with "which replica wheels should i get"!?!?

Rant over
:hi:

Why: A fraction of the price and sometimes just as well made...... I beleive original wheels often buckle too (Rs4 s spring to mind!)

yeah but audi offer an exchange to hard wheels for the rs4!!
its true pattern wheels do buckle, im an audi technician and put pattern on my a3 knowing they would bend eventually but its a price thing, over 1500 for genuine 9 spokes verses 500 for pattern!
EACH TO THEIR OWN

it was a cost thing for me. also all the origional audi wheels i looked at were tatty and kerbed second hand ones so i went replica to get new. i totally agree with the buckling thing, ive bent loads of tsw's + oz's in the past. but its mainly my girlfreind who damages alloys so she's band from driving it! problem solved.

I just get bored of all the posts, rs6 reps or old rs4 reps? Why not try something different, non audi maybe.

New rs4's still look fresh but it won't be long untill everyone has them.

Cause they're probably the cheapest way to actually make your Audi look much better. You could say the same about choosing silver as a colour, god it's so boring why not go for something different like brown or orange. Simple answer it looks good. TBH most non replicas look awful to me as they are way too lairey for an Audi's understated looks and you wonder why the owner bought an Audi in the first place if they're into XR2 styling.

yeh, only if still fitted on an RS4 and are the original wheels! Stick em on your 1.8T and they would just laugh you out of the showroom if you expected an exchange!

Xr2 styling!?

To me getting the cheapest wheels you can find is more like Xr2 styling.

The money you spend has nothing to do with it. It's a strange thing called taste. Don't get it confused with expense.

Well taste is a personal thing. I think rs4 wheels looks great..... on an rs4. It just seems so unoriginal putting them on anything else because of the amount of people that have them.

And i know the difference between taste an money thanks.

Good Lord, is that a Marina estate behind the convertible above? My Dad used to have one of them! :)

I think your right
That was my first car but the saloon, deluxe in beige with brown interior
I swapped it for a RS Turbo gearbox for my project Escort at the time.

REP wheels, I have seen so many people coming in with wheel wobble and other issues including them shattering, I wouldn't recommend nor use them.

Fitting aftermarket wheels is always about personal pref..I have used aftermarket on my cars and they look great to me and that is what matters.

REP wheels are ok if your on a tight budget and want a certain look...but you understand the downsides of them too.

Lol i hadn't even noticed there was a car behind that cab. Looks like a big allegro :puke2:

my god, i think it is, we had an bright orange estate and a blue 2 door coupe. that takes me back, i must have been about 4 or 5!!!

anyway, back to the thread, i think people go for the replica's because they have seen them fitted as factory fit so they want to create the same look but without having to sell a limb to do so! thats why i bought rs6 replica's, because the B6 A4 s-lines at the time came with the rs6s fitted and they just look meaner than the 5 spoke star designs that i had previously.

It must be annoying for the people that have an rs6 or an rs4. Thinking your getting some special wheels and then audi putting them on other cars aswell.

I personally think Replica wheels are great! I've probably gone through around 7 sets in the last b7 years of driving, they have never let me down, I change to a new set when the tyres are near the limiters, which is more cost effective, and I get fresh tyres and new wheels.
I've not had a poor set neither, no poor quality or bad paint finishes, all good to me.
