I can't get it to work in work, but if its what I think it is it does what the link says.
Put some thoughts and ideas in to practise.

But what's the problem with using the lane that is closing/merging right up until the last 10 meters or so?
If the council or whoever didn't want us to use full length of the lane then they would've closed it further back along the road, no?

Also, i've seen it plenty of times where people only queue in one lane and it causes an overspill of traffic into roads/junctions further back. (e.g. a long queue of 100 cars all sitting in one lane, instead of two shorter queues of only 50 cars each).
If cars used both lanes then this wouldn't be less likely to happened.
Im refering more to main A (2 and 3 lane duel) and Motorways which will be HA miantained and normally drop you down to 50mph in which case leaving it to the last 10m is pretty stupid as they sign the lane drop and count it down too and if your last car in the lane that is being closed you'll see if theres a gap to get in lane but I see plenty of people who dont take the gap drive to the taper and then cause a delay as people have to slow up and let them in. Some drivers also seem oblivious to road works sign too, the other night I almost saw someone drive into the cones.

I do get road rage but I like to think I control it pretty well, I'm use to driving on country roads with tractors and old people in front doing 20 when I would be comfortable doing 80, the one thing I really don't see the need for is people tail gating! If a silly wee boy racer thinks he's class and sits on my rear bumper I get really f**ked off, what if I need to hit the brakes? He's in my boot more likely than not!

So a quick tap on the brakes to flash up the brake lights usually scares the **** outa them and they back off to a safe distance.

I didn't want to say more about the outside lane hogging as my opinion would have started an argument, as some others already did, so I rather just keep them to myself.

    A1m, Apex corner southbound.

Best way to get through there in the morning is to belt down the inside lane and then cut across to the outside lane at the last minute, closing your eyes and hoping the other road users will brake to let you cross those 4 lanes.

Of course, I am talking about BMW drivers!

I couldn't do it, not got enough bottle lol

I wonder how bad at driving some of us on here are.

How often do you get beeped by other cars???
(Sarah - we'll disregard anything you say about this as the beeps you receive are more than likely for an entirely different reason. Or couple of reasons.)

95% of the time you will find me in the inside lane doing around 65mph, the other 5% you will find me in the middle lane at around 70mph overtaking a truck or something. Never in a rush, always relaxed and enjoying the drive, laughing at others getting wound up and stressed out.

The only thing that gives me road rage is being tailgated when overtaking.
Not to long ago i had a corsa up my arse when i was doing 80 overtaking a cue of cars. Once i cleared them and let the corsa past i got up behind it and gave it some back. I think the driver **** themselves and slowed down after that.

Another thing that annoys me is Drivers flash at you for no reason! was indicating off from the right hand lane coming over to the left gradually on the A2 last night (4 lane road) and some prat behind me just started flashing at me as i was checking to see if there was a car on the left so i can pull into the lane. he probably thought i was taking too long but thats no excuse to start flashing!

other day on M1 coming back to london, driving on the 3rd land (again 4 lane road) and indicated over to 4th lane whilst overtaking, a car on 4th lane that was no where near me started flashing and then decided that he would leave his full beam on. so i finished my overtaking and let him through, and then decided to test out my new Bi-Xenon 8000k headlights on him... i think he was impressed with them as he very quickly moved out of the 4th lane and just slowed right down

Brothers, I am with you! Totally!

How about people who slow down to join the motorway? Arghhh. What is wrong with them? How do they think they are going to join a 70 mph motorway whilst doing 10 mph?

yes i understand where your coming from here, and yes it is a silly tit for tat thing there, but only as he was given no reason what so ever to start flashing at me! i dont like it when other drivers do things like this just to impress the missus or to blow off steam. I totally put my hands up when i am at fault, and i take it when other drivers want to flash if i am switching lanes etc. Yes i go faster than i should and i undertake cos i know the driver infront wont move over so i save him the trouble and go around. I dont like going up behind someone and flashing and horning until they decide to move out the way... i would rather just go past them and get on with the rest of my day.
My road rage has calmed alot, usually dont respond to drivers that 'cut me up' to get past, but its those silly ones that do it intentionally that really pisses me off

All of this made me think about what happened a few weeks ago.

I was driving down a main road and approached a set of traffic lights which were on red. There were two lanes, the right hand one had a car in it who was already there as I arrived, the left lane was empty so I pulled up in that one, next to the other car.
After these traffic lights, about 70-100 yards down the road, the left lane turns into a bus lane.

The lights turned to green and we both set off. I pushed my car a bit so I could get a fair distance in front of the car to my right and then indicate and pull across before the bus lane started so I didn't enter it.
I was about a car length in front of him at this point and the guy in the car next to me must've sensed what I was trying to do and started to rev the b*llocks out of his car (a vectra or something, can't remember).
Anyway, I could feel him coming back at me so I pushed my car a little more so I was two to three cars lengths in front of him, indicated and pulled across into his lane and continued accelerating away from him.

    He didn't like this!

The next thing I know is he's doing about 50mph to catch me up (I was doing about 40), and then he's right behind me. I look in my rear view and he's sticking his fingers up at me, mouthing some sh*t.

I continue at 40 (the speed limit) and he stays right behind me. Then we get to another red light so I stop. I look in the mirror and he's still spouting a loads of abuse or something. Strangely I was in a calm mood and found it funny rather than reacting.

We set off again, me still at 40, him still tailgating.

We both turned off of the main road and went down a small residential road. As I was driving along I saw two coppers walking along and they went up the path of someone's house, so I slowed down and stopped just past that house in the middle of the road, which meant the guy benhind also had to stop his car.

I looked back and saw the guy jump out of his car and literally run up to the police and start pointing towards me and getting quite animated.

The police came up to my car and asked me to step out of the vehicle, so I did.

The first question that came out of the coppers mouth were (with an unfriendly accusing tone)......... "So what's with the erratic driving?!"

    My calm mood changed.

I said to the copper.... "So you're not going to ask me what happened, or start off by telling me what the other guy has accused me of? You're just going to ask me WHY I WAS driving erratically?".

At this point the other copper (good cop) butted in and explained that they received a complaint from this guy and have to follow it up.
I said that was fair enough but you need to ASK what happened, not just as good as accuse me of driving erractically.

Anyway, I told them what happened, and the good cop explained that the other guy was swearing etc when he approached them so he's willing to believe my explanation of the events, and off I went.

Looked back at the other guy, smiled and drove off.

    Moral of this story....

I hate people who can't deal with the reality that my car is faster than theirs.

    one word.... OVERTAKE!

EDIT: Just to explain... i would overtake so that im not making the poor learner nervous about a car up its arse and i can get on with where i am going without being frustrated for being stuck behind a learner. We were all there in the learner cars.. so we all know how it feels.

Actually overtaking probably makes them feel worse knowing they are not travelling at the speed limit unless you overtake just because you feel the need to willy nilly from the reason you have given...

I'm kind to learner drivers. I don't drive close to them, don't beep them if they take four light changes before they move off from traffic lights, and don't overtake them unless there is room to do so and they are driving slowly.

And to be honest, I don't think an overtook learner feels bad about being overtaken. In fact, I reckon they feel relieved that the car behind them has now gone and they no longer feel pressured to speed up.

I give learners plenty of room and patience.

I give them as much time and space as they need, memories of learning to drive are still fresh in my mind even 25 years later.

Even so, you can still here me shouting to myself "why are they learning to drive in the rush hour?"

And yes, I know the answer, but I still say it anyway. Every time LOL

Everything that London taxi drivers do annoys me.
And bus drivers who think that it's ok to go from stationery at a bus stop, to driving off without checking their mirrors, so you end up getting stranded on the other side of the road because they did this at the precise moment you get next to them.

    This happened to me............

    1) Double decker bus stationery at a bus stop.

    2) I approach slowly to go past it.

    3) As I get next to the bus he swings across the road to drive into the bus garage on opposite side of the road.

    4) I have to drive into the bus garage with him so he doesn't hit me.
    5) Get in the bus garage and ask him WTF?????

    6) He says "oh, didn't see you there mate".

    7) YEAH.... I F***ING NOTICED THAT!!!!!

And to be honest, I don't think an overtook learner feels bad about being overtaken. In fact, I reckon they feel relieved that the car behind them has now gone and they no longer feel pressured to speed up.
Top answers i treat them how I would have wanted to be treated myself 5 years ago. Boils my blood when people get inpatient with them!
