Q7 rattling noise when opening the boot

Hi, my first post here.

I have had my 56-reg Q7 for more than a year and I'm quite happy with it. A few weeks ago the boot lock started to rattle before the door opens. I press the button to open the boot, it makes a ra-ta-ta-ta noise and then opens fine. It closes fine. This happens only 3 times out of 4 boot openings.

I cleaned and greased the bottom part of the locking mechanism but it didn't help.

Audi dealer recommends changing the locking mechanism and the motor but I suspect there must be a cheaper option. The mechanism seems fine, I don't think it needs changing and it is possible the motor is fine as well.

Are you opening via the remote, boot microswitch, does it have auto boot opening, all relevant, but sounds like the lock is trying to disengage, but takes multiple attempts, maybe adjust the lock/striker plate, I dont know the Q7 very well tbh, but most work on the same basic design.
