Electric folding, or not!?

Hello all!

Today, we picked up a Q7 3.0 tdi 2008. Very happy too!

We have a question about the electric folding wing mirrors, our manual doesn't really help (us at least!)
should they electronically fold in and out as standard or is it an option?

We ask this because on the drivers door (no seat memory buttons) it has a small knob to change the left and right mirror directions and at 12 o'clock, the heat function. We have another option at 6 o'clock (symbol for fold in mirrors), but it doesn't work.
We push, pull and move knob up, down, left and right to no effect!

Any clues please? It's not listed in the MMi either.
Maybe it's a fuse, but then I can change the mirror angles with the knob, so maybe not!

Should twist round to 6 oclock for folding mate, if not then needs a few things checking.

Yes, twisted it so the dot was in the 6 o'clock position, but not working.
Very keen to plug vagcom in and play about, maybe tomorrow.

This is working now by the way.

I changed the car battery (as it was dying, 7 years old anyway). After doing that, I played with the wing mirrow switch again and hey presto, they now fold in and out! Only with the ignition on I might add.

Is there coding in VCDS to fold in and out automatically?
