Project RS28

your car looks totally different more red inside that garage. The ICE looks YUM ;)

Thanks Ras, its more like that in the flesh really, pics dont do it justice. Hoping to maybe make AITP this year, maybe get to meet some people from here.

Went in for MOT today...........FAILED!!!!!!

But its only minor points, phew!

Briefly spoke to the guy in bodyshop who is dealing with it, apparently missing a bolt from front end at bumper area??? And also the lights are a bit mental, one goes high beam and other goes dipped etc, again due to the car being apart when the bodywork was done. Thats about it, so will go down tomorrow night to have a look myself with the boys and get these bits rectified and sent back for re-test.

Continuing with completing the stereo install this weekend when i get it back, just ordered some Dynamat Superlite to deaden the doors and also picked up some foam to further help with the doors, and also line the custom box. Full update with pics when the work is happening.

MOT passed. Was a wrong connection on one of the front HID's and one on the rear stop/tail light, and a loose bolt in the rear bumper bar, half hour to remedy all that then re-tested. Surprised and really happy with that seeing as the car has stood mostly over 2 yrs of the project with only moving in and out of the garage!

Also, thought i'd put the bodyshop to good use while the car was there for new windscreen etc, got a set of RS4 washer caps and had them painted and fitted, looks better from the front now

IMG-20110617-00063.jpg

And the cherry on top was the back bumper diffuser, now painted black and looking so much better, looks lower and wider from the back now!

IMG-20110617-00064.jpg

Now whenever work allows i intend to finish off the audio install and start using it, soon hopefully!

Dude, loads better with the bottom of the bumper black, when's the charger coming?

Dude, loads better with the bottom of the bumper black, when's the charger coming?

Why thank you kind sir!;)

The Charger will hopefully be complete before the end of this year, not an easy task as no one has any re-map files for it anymore and the only people i have spoke too interested in taking up the task are Regal Motorsport, currently sourcing better injectors etc then its another 1G to have a complete custom map and rising rate fuel regulator fitted.

Wish i was into cheap thrills like golf etc!!!:banghead:

Looking Good. The real deal with the lower rear and the jet caps finish it off nicely looks to me the exterior is done

Cheers Ras, there is one more change that will be happening to the look of the car, but im keeping it under my hat for time being as i still havent done a trial fitting, maybe do it next week if work quitens down.

i hope its not the GTE bonnet vents :tapedshut:

Hey you!:gun2:

Na, that idea got binned, was going to go a bit track look to pull that off but as you can see i went for a more conservative look in the end!

Only thing im saying for time being is its wheels, but not like any other wheel ever seen on an A4 or maybe even Audi for that matter!!!!:whistle2::sly:

I took my rear shelf speakers out also ;)

I left mine in with this car for fill when the kids are watching DVds.

Good work none the less.

I was about to type lose the white ties, then scrolled down and you beat me to it,LOL

Cheers guys, picked up some custom door adapters made by AndyMac, was planning custom door builds but will see how these look first. Nightshift duties so no update till wkend:(

I managed to pick up some well made, custom speaker mounts to fit in the original positions. Ive went this route as im now not sure how i will like the Hertz HSK's, and have seen my next set of comps i want, however i have been working on my car for 2yrs now and intend to get it on the road in the next week or two, so not throwing more cash at speakers just now, will try the Hertz for 6-12 months then change if i still feel it.

So no door builds this time, they will happen for next set.

Here are the adapters

Was a bit tricky, but after a bit of head scratching i managed to get them in original positions, just re-used the original clip that held in the standard units, with a bit of re-shaping to accept the larger tweeter

And the rear of the card with new parts in all original positions, crossovers fixed with double sided foam tape

Then original foam replaced, all hidden

Just need to crimp connections and wire the woofer to the xover, ready for fitting back in car.

Looking good mate.
Looks better than cutting the door cars up and slapping in a big *** speaker.
Unless that is your thing (there is door cards like that for sale in the B5 section)

Ah, them, not my thing really, but thanks for heads up. Will have door builds done, but custom, and just for one set of comps, maybe next year.

Cheers Scott,

Unfortunately cash has been tight this last week, too many things to pay, but am still trying to make AITP next week, will know nearer the time. Even thou the car isnt near done yet, i'd still like to attend and meet some of the lads etc see some other cars so will try my best. What is the cost for attending the event??? Times etc???

Car will get a full clean one weekend, inside and out!

The crossovers are stuck onto the doors with double sided foam, then the tape is just to keep the bags from flapping open really, cutting edge stuff!!!! lol.

hahaha I had vision of the tape being the only thing holding them up. lol

Its about £5-£6 to get in to the park on the day, Unless you want to be one of the campers, then its £20.
Not sure on times, I think its all day.

It be good to meet you, put a name and voice to the text.

Do you know what that foam blob is form in the bottom of the door?
I got the same and think of it as ballistic. :)

Could hollow it out, stick dome dynamat down in the hole and sink the cross over in to the hole.

No idea what that lump of crap is for, maybe just to support the door card as its a void or summit?

Dunno if im gonna make the show, will keep trying till end of the week thou, would be a good run if i can sort all niggles etc out.

Fitted a new shorter wiper arm and changed the aero style cheapo blade back to a standard, looks a lot better i think now.

Well i managed to rip the bumper of a high kerb the 2nd time driving it on the road!:sorry:

Twisted the whole bumper, and cracks at the mounting point on the drivers side and small one behind the pass side headlight, and all alignment was out.

IMG-20110812-00174.jpg

IMG-20110812-00175.jpg

So it went back into bodyshop for repair and repaint, pass door handle needed sorting from first time and some wing shaving at the front were tyres were catching, heres some recent pics after it.

How you doing mate?

Yeah the bumpers repaired n painted, sits slightly off on one side were repair was but im happy enough with it.

Lol, theres a bit of weight from the stereo, more to go in aswell......the blower is being put off till next year now, threw to much at it the last 2 yrs and will give me something to look forward and plan too. Trying to focus on installing the parts i already have here still, new Recaros, wheels etc before i spend anymore just now.

Hows ur animal doing, getting good use out of it i hope? Any good kills in it yet?

Im all gravy dude, just silly busy at the mo with work & my rotting S2 that I just won't give up on!

Glad you got it all sorted out, you've put a lot of effort into this motor and it looks bang on, I love those RS4 bumpers, they just look oh so right on the B5. She will be something to behold when you get it all done and I hope I will get to see it one day.

The beast has been as good as gold recently, I daily drive it at the moment so probably put close to 10K miles on it now and no issues, boost is only at 20psi but it's still crackers lol. I think I blasted past Aragorn's Avant today on the M6 on way back from Modified Live, can't be sure as I was well into tripple figures and heavy into the boost :superman:

I have dispatched many and unsuspecting driver, Porsche 911, Range Rover Overfinch, scoobies, Evo's, focus ST's etc. The most memorable one was a toffee nose in an A5 3.0TDI quattro, was having a laugh with his mates revving his dag dag and egging me on at the lights, obviously I reciprocated and damn I wish I had the anti lag sorted so I could show him some flameage, never the less, lights went green I shot forward like a bull at a gate and I caught him out the corner of my eye damn nearly nut the steering wheel as he stalled it on the line :lmfao: of course I coasted down so he had to pass me again, I was laughing so hard, he & his mates looked a wee bit sheepish, absolute classic.

Looking good mate.
I can't get over how red it is. I like it.

Shame bout the bumper. You need some parking sensors or learn to stay away from curbs :)

Lesson learned Scott.......Keep it as a garage queen, problem solved!

AYE RIGHT!!!!:jester:

Just knocked back wkend work, so hoping to crack on with a few bits over sat/sun.

Well ive been keeping this up my sleeve for a while as i was waiting till i had fitted them, but its not happening soon enuff just now. So ive went for the pics of the new wheels i have.................

Think its a first for an Audi overall, never mind on an A4 B5:eyebrows:

I'll let the pics do the talking first.......

Wheels are TVR Spiders, 8.5x18.

They are not staggered in size, but the offset differs from front to rear and helps the look to be staggered! Fronts are et42, rears et33.

Test fit shows them to sit flush with wings, ideal looking stance without spacers and such. Currently have 225's on the RS 8j wheels, so i think im going for 215's for these wheels, just to be safe for clearance on arch.

They will be getting full works, powdercoated (anthracite) then new tyres fitted when i scrape up the cash, hopefully soon.

I'm really liking these rims! They really suit the car.

Are you using wobble bolts with them? Aren't they 5x114.3...?

Thanks Geeman!:beerchug:

Im using wobble bolts to fit them, from info i gathered they were coming in at 5x114 exactly? I'll have another dig around, but sure they were less than jap 114.3

Change to rear lights, added some light smoke Lamin-X, great mod for the cost and now gives a more oem look to lights.

IMG-20110911-00041.jpg

Made up a custom centre dash piece. As i have Carbon fibre this was the only piece left still in wood. Also, having an aftermarket stereo means using the daft spacers at each side to take up the extra left by original Audi stereo.

I hot glued these in position from the rear, then applied some filler to smooth them off with the rest of the fascia. Once all smoothed down, i applied a standard gloss black vinyl, so the fascia now matches the JVC stereo face.
