Holy glow batman! Lick it, i dare you! haha
Looking good Reesy. You going to cage it? or just see how it goes?
So, when can we expect to see this tip on a track
Car might be on track at Brands tomorrow, although neither me or Ben would be driving it! TIP will go on when the Garrett goes on, so hopefully this weekend or next.
We need to try and get everyone on track together in the new year.
Definitely. As long as it's not wet or the Leon doesn't stand a chance.
Mate, my car was pretty lethal in the wet at Bedford but that was on slicks. I'm sure the Leon would be ok on some proper rain tyres.
It's all about the tyres, but a Quattro with decent tyres in the rain is far more likely to work well then a 2wd car..
Stops unbelievably well for a car with 312's. It might not be too comfortable after a long track session but stops far better then any 312 car I've been in. Don't know what fluid it has in or what discs or pads it has.
The braided lines and Ferodo pads still need to go on, and I'm sure their is some carplan brake fluid at the back of Ben's workshop!
I think lightness is the key in track car form. Don't particularly need masses of power. You can get overtaken in the straights but through then bends a lighter car reasonably well set up is foig to cause others problems. Really can't wait to track this now, although we are running out of budget mods. Turbo looks like its on for this weekend on the a3 so will be able to report back on the difference the TIP makes, as I never actually found out before..312s aren't all bad. Mine were mint last weekend and I didn't have any shakey moments like I did last year. I bled mine with motul RBF 660 the day before and it seemed to firm up the initial bite quite nicely. You just have to watch the braking points of caterams and other lighter cars to realise that lightweight is king.
As long as this is faster then Jardo's car, I'm happy.
Impossible haha
I really need to crack on with my Mk2, should hopefully be joining you lot out on track
How heavy are the wheels? Some light weight wheels would be good, to reduce unsprung mass and slightly aid in acceleration. Old wheels can be sold to help recoup costs too
3 weeks since an update? Where you at with it now?
Only an AGU, Brute rods, new rings, head refurb but the turbo is a bit left field/an experiment. I'm fitting a TD05HR 16G6 10.5T off a Mitsi Evo 8 along with homemade top mount tubular mani and 3 inch downpipe. So ought to be fun.
Looking forward to the updates fella
this DEFINITELY needs 4wd with all that power! The boys in the 8L forum said it's loads better
I wouldn't know mate, stuck out here in the project threads in my ****ty 2wd car
