Curt's A3 1.8T Progress Thread

Found out Monday night that someone had egged my car, all down the drivers side. Bad thing is that it must have happened Saturday or Sunday outside my mates house, but as it was dark when I left I didn't notice until I went out to it Monday... Which meant by the time I washed it off, it was too late. Sure enough, it's fcuked my paint over. Calmed down now but I was fuming when I found it. Makes you think what the ****** point is, spend £££ making my car my own and look half decent just for someone to be an absolute penis for no reason.

Annoying isn't it, I had 2 tyres slashed on my old Bora a couple of years ago, good job I never found out who it was because I don't think I would be using the internet now.

Might be possible to machine polish the etched in marks out do you think?

More than annoying to be honest. Yeah, it'd probably best for everyone involved that I don't find out who did it...

No unfortunately not, it's too far gone. I went over it quickly with some G3, SRP and Meg's but it didn't really help, the only way to sort it would be paint :(

Little audio update, did put it in another thread but may as well whack it in here as well.

Bought some new JL Audio kit, and made a box to house them rather than having them on the seats. First time I've ever upholstered anything, so considering I think it turned out pretty well.

Cut some funny shapes.

Then fitted the sub grille:

Today I filled in the gap between the amp to hide the wires:

New comps for the front to be fitted:

Getting there!

Fitted the Focal's the other day, now sounds very awesome.

Thanks to AndyMac for the very nicely made adapters

Not lot changed really, just a few pics:

Then someone decided to smash my rear screen for whatever reason, bye bye stickers:

Nice drive home form Crawley with no back window, in the rain.

So I bought another bootlid from eBay, as a new window would have been £250. Got this for £70 delivered, but the nice courier dented it by the badge...

Boot-less:

And a few pics with my mates 306 form the weekend when I helped him change his shocks:

Cheers man, and indeed I do! Or BBS ones... Although the LMs will be coming off soon.

mate, where'd you get the carbon engine cover from??
Car looks great!!!!

regards,
Mike

The engine cover was from fleaBay, managed to get it for £60 brand new... Might be worth a search for a bargain one! Cheers man

I'm not selling it any more, got myself another project car to keep boredom away instead :)

The wheels look pretty mint, in the pic, how much is the car lowered by, sits perfectly!

Not sure to be honest, just wound them down until it looked right, then had to wind the front back up as the wheels caught... I'd guess 50mm ish.

I was running around -80mm - -100mm on the sports, but then the wishbone bushes failed (wonder why) and now I have drive shaft catching issues.

Nice biuld thread mate - shame about the jealous tosser who needs to get a life !!!

Good luck

Fitted a straight through centre section form a TDi last week, sounds even more awesome now :D. Burbles like mad, with a few pops here and there...

Also ordered some more stickers for the back, need to put my Audi-Sport one on actually.

looks tidy bud, is that an oem bumper?

video of exhaust needed :)

Yeah it is indeed. I'll try and get one at some point!

Couple of new pictures...

One with the other car:

Fitted a 3" decat downpipe today, spools quicker and smoother. Amazing how quiet it is still though, considering it now only has one box!

Seatbelt mounts I believe, it was a while ago haha. It's a cheapo Sportex jobby, sounds good though.

May be up for sale again, fancy an MX-5 to supercharge or an Accord Type-R

Oh yes :ninja: 1.6 badges FTW.

Forgot add, this now has facelift rear lights, I'll have to get a picture.

this car with that bodykit really reminds me off something old skool and i cant place my finger on it arghhhh nice progress though

Cheers :).

This has now been sold :( sad times. Oh well, onwards!

Well that link seems to have died and as I can't edit it...

Some shinies arriving tomorrow... Will update with more exciting (although rather similar...) things later

So I sold it just over a year ago, then realised I'd made a massive mistake.

My mate phoned me the other day to say that the bloke that bought it (his partners brother) was selling and did I want it. Well I offered him a lot less than his asking price and picked it up that weekend.

So it's back!

Unfortunately, he has left it with a few scars and a few "chav" additions.

Tried to remove stickers with a scourer?

EVERY wire in the car was twisted together... Including the remote cable for the amp...

Speaking of which, look how thin the wire he used for, erm, part of it was:

If a wood screw through the boot floor isn't enough, what do you do? Wedge a spoon underneath it, of course!

This stopped me wondering why the "sub" kept cutting in and out all the ******* time.

So, back in with my stuff... again. Luckily it was all cut to fit.

Then I thought I'd "fix" the parcle shelf holderupper. So a shaved bolt head and 2 nuts later:

I also changed the window regulator too, as it still didn't work since the last time I owned it

Then I had a delivery...

...and that's where I'm up to.

My mate has already sourced me a replacement parcel shelf, so that solves that. Next I need to mop the car and do some paint correction, then sort the engine bay out. As it did look like this:

P8312196.jpg

It now looks a bit neglected. Then, full service, probably cambelt and waterpump and possibly a FMIC and KO3S...

Thanks for looking.
