Shutter speed

I have looked at my camera's spec and the slowest speed I can get from my shutter is 3 seconds, is this a bit crap? I wanted to get some good movement effects but I think a 3 sec speed wont be enough.

What do you want to achieve? 3 seconds is plenty good enough for a bit of motion blur.

But not enough for light trails like this.

How long was that shutter open for

20 secs probably.

Does it have a "B" setting? This allows you to open the shutter and leave it open until you decide to close it, however to avoid camera shake you'll need a remote shutter release cable.

what outlore said, shutter release cable's are great (use it with a tripod aswell though) =)

no B setting has S and A and an M but not a B.

M might well be manual shutter release - just play around and see what you come up with!
On manual, without a cable release, you're likely to lose any sharpness though.

found an M and it has a B for bulb setting, although the maximum is 15 sec
