    My Fun Toy, 1983 Cosworth

My nice standard original condition 1983 MK1 Ford Sierra ghia. One owner from new.

Not really worth a second glance in the fast car stakes, you wouldn't really think it would stand a chance against your average scooby, Evo or type R

But then, it does happen to have this under the bonnet..........

225bhp RWD through a 7 1/2" lsd, built for pure fun

I also used the front subframe and power rack off the Granada, knife edge steering as its designed to turn a car 500kg heavier.

You know what... I had an '88 XR4x4.... a bit of a lump to be honest (pre. efi 2.8), once dad and I gave it a good service, tappits, valces etc etc it was a beast. The most comfortable car I have ever driven. Great driving position and apart from the heater matrix breaking occasionally and drive with a wet left foot and misted windows in the middle of winter it was an absolute joy!!!!
I think it ended up getting chopped for a track car.. :O(

I am on Powered by Ford and I run the FSOC.

Passion Ford admin don't like me very much, I didn't agree with one of their "experts" when he said it was ok to drill your own brake discs

Still have a soft spot for RWD Fords, your Sierra looks a very clean, well looked-after example.

@ Siena, this is the car in Steven Bayleys book, Cars power, sex, motion, everything. I had a nice little photoshoot with Tif Hunter and got a copy of the book for free, there is no way I would pay 75 for it

@Nilz18t, oh yes, much fun can be hadIts not like they are expecting it, Bm's and Mercs on the motorway are fun. I get the usual flash of lights to move out of the way and take it up to around 85-90ish and sit there, when they flash the lights again I move over and let them past, only to pull back out behind them.
When they have got to the speed they want I flash my lights and wave to them
Yep, childish I know but good fun

Oh so much fun. My best to date was a bloke in his M3 who sat at the lights behind me pointing at the sticker on the bootlid laughing (it says "Restricted to 248bhp, Please pass". As we left th elights he thoughthe would tear up my inside and show me how fast he was. By fourth gera he was trailing by 2 car lengths to a 20 year Ford Escort. You could almost see his mail order bint asking why his sports car was being shown a clean set of heels by an old Ford
