Saw one on the road the other day - looks okay, but still looks like a Focus :s

Don't know what they are like to drive though.

How much are they ?

Re: WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THE FOCUS RS

It's a Ford.....

They are supposed to be very twitchy due to the LSD and not be that great to drive. I like the look of it but i personally think Ford took too much of a break after the Escort Cossie etc and have lost alot of the RS\Cosworth motion. The Focus RS IMO is pretty much a half arsed attempt to get another sector of the market back to Ford

After all the hassle i had with Ford over my Mondeo ST200 i wouldn't trust them to find their arses in a snowstorm when it develops a problem.

Price is about 21k but they are all sold and no longer available new.

is your S3 standard or modified? because I would have thought if both cars were standard then the RS would be the quicker.

Jon

What you have said is right, I have also read this in a few reports which sorts of puts me off.

Audi Girl

you will never get away from the Rs looking like a focus because under all those spoilers, it is a Focus. Just like the S3 is an A3.

Re: WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THE FOCUS RS

Nah, mines standard. The RS is 0.6 quicker to 60 and 1 sec quicker to 100, but it doesn't bother me. They are still very different cars. The S3 is 4x4 rather that battling with TS all the time from the RS, and as the dude said about the LSD it can be twitchy on most B-Roads unlike the S3. Plus you have better build quality and a more updated and gorgeous dash and console to use. You can also mod it later to get 260bhp+ for 500+

Personally I think the RS looks good and has good figures on paper, but I wouldn't buy one.

For the 21K market your world is your oyster for hot hatches, you could look at a S3, R32, WRX, EVO and pick up a right cracker.

Jester

What you have said is corret, I had just seen one at the right price but after reading a few reports and what you guys and gal have said I dont think I will bother.

As for the other cars you mentioned, I have had the EVO VI and personaly I dont think you will ever be able to beat it for a cross country thrash. It's just the running cost and the attraction it gets from the wrong type of people that made me get rid, otherwise I would still have it.

R32, I may as well keep the S3.

WRX, been out in my mates and it's no EVO.

Flippin heck MOSSY, you getting bored already?

Suppose the S3 is a bit tame after having an EVO.

Sadly, the only worthy replacement for an EVO is well, another EVO. Or perhaps an RS4, but they're a bit big aren't they?

Re: WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THE FOCUS RS

Ditto, I had an Evo 6 for 6 months inbetween having the 210 S3 and the 225 S3. An animal of a car but high costs!! Service every 4500, new tyres in the same amount maybe slightly more, and brakes every 7K!! Plus a midget of a fuel tank that swallowed Super every time and doing between 90 and 120miles before another fillup got a bit tiresome.

Her she is in all her glory.

But I have to say if I had the cash I would seriously consider it again, damn that car was awesome

After the Evo I tested all sorts of car (Xtype 3.0, Type R, Elise, STI, 147, Skoda RS etc) apart from the R32/RS as it wasn't out then, I decided on another S3. Why? Well for everything, build, quality, ergonomics, set-up, functions, toys, looks etc. Servicing ain't too bad either compared to other car makers. And more importantly they hold their value very well.

Jester
Was it the exspense that made you get rid?

Mine had the HKS exhaust, Ralliart Filter, and De-cat. Also it had a set of discs and pads that had just been beded in off Alister Mcrae's WRC. What a differance they made.

Like you said if I it had a bigger tank and less running cost's then I think I would still be on the Lancer register and not this forum.

Did you know Coffeeman? He took me out in his Evo 5 around Oulton park, at the time it was running 450 Bhp. boy that was an experiance I will never forget.

Long Live The Evo.

Re: WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THE FOCUS RS

The one I had was a company car and a standard one. Though I only drove it the expense of the fuel was bad enough, as was trying to find some on a midnight hoon! Plus I have heard and seen the invoices for the work that it required and they were horrendous, glad it wasn't me was my thought.

However I did run it every day and covered a fair few thousand so being a rally car it couldn't 'cope' with day to day driving. On the other hand if it was for the weekend then that'll be a different story.

Don't know of Coffeeman as never been on an evo forum and as I only had the darling for 6 monthish.

450bhp yazoo, fair shout.

Ditto, long live the Evo.

Re: WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THE FOCUS RS

I wouldn't trust the EVO as it uses the same basic engine as fitted in our forklifts That's the truth!

blood hell you must have fast fork lift trucks........

whats wrong the engine? because I found that the evo had a strong engine that was reliable.
