Thought I'd start this little topic off forgive me if it's been done already!!

I started off with a mini 1000 which used to jump out of gear, I discovered the engine wasn;t actually fixed to the subframe and everytime I accelerated the movement of the engine pulled it out of gear! :racer:

Then I had a ser111 SWB landy good fun did lotsa off roading in in mostly in places I shouldn't have gone like on other peoples land but i was young. It also had lots of welding :arco:

Annother car I had was an FSO 1300 that was a pile of poo :sob: it had all round disc brakes  which constantly seized up, mice living in the engine bay and glove box, yes mice. Eventually they ate most of the back seat that was the last straw. The speedometer was like a flourecent catapiller which crept along the dash only slower than an actuall caterpiller could creep along the dash. Sometimes the lights worked sometimes they didn't could never find the fault, replaced bulbs fuses despite not needing to, replaced the switch inspected the wiring. Only two of the windows opened one rear and the front passanger, I fixed them numerous occasions but with an hour or so they'd not work again. It was truly hideous car by far the worst car in the world

then had an auto Ford Orian, terrible but luxury compared to the FSO, then a Mondeo, Espace, Fiat Ullyse, another Mondeo only a few years old that one very nice car. vectra, 406, Honda accord CDTI very nice car, Volvo V70 D5 very very nice car but It got killed in a flood a few weeks ago and now the A6 :applaus::rock:

So join in with your car history

And my current A4 Quattro Avant 1.9tdi Sport.

Hard to say which was the worst, but it would have to be between the MK1 850 Fiesta and the Peugeot 309 xsi which leaked more oil than the Exxon Valdez and eventually the crank fell out.
Favourites would have to be the MK1 Escort which I built from a bare shell and nearly bankrupted me and the 205 GTI which accelerated and handled like nothing else I've owned.

In my sig. Haven't added the stopgap before the A3 1.8T of the Merc A Class 1900, which was terrible and blew up.

The '79 Escort was easily the best. Bought for £850 in 2002 and was fully rebuilt from the ground up, bare shell. Wish I'd never sold it. Took it to Kielder as Car 0 and broke the dizzy and got two punctures. Before that, 80mph sideways on gravel with road tyres is something I'll never forget.

The worst was probably the proton, a beige (yes really) of such crushing, mind numbing tedium I can't even remember what model it was. Best handling was the RX-8 (unless it was wet) but best overall for me is the S3, its got the handling, pace and looks that just keep me smiling. Although I'm tempted by the new Jaguar F-Type when there's a bit of a second hand market, or maybe a used RS5.

Oh how I miss my Honda S2000, all glossy solid black with red/black leather interior and sports exhaust. An Audi is SO boring SO common SO SO bland. And no amount of 'slamming' 'tinted' glass or 'silly alloys' maketh the car.
BUT I do like the ride comfort, the classy understated inerior, the easy access to the performance via the seamless DSG gearchange, and the cruise control and easier to keep clean metallic black .... and .. and ............and yet ................... I miss my Honda.

My first car was a Vauxhall Nova GTE 1.6 which I bought at 16 couldn't drive and it had lots of issues that were out of my budget to fix so i stupidly got rid instead of storing and repairing.

Then passed my test at 17 & bought a grey 1.4 astra for £200 which i drove until its death.

Then replaced with another cheap crappy 1.4 astra,
b11.jpg

Had a couple of head gaskets go, oil pump, cambelt snapped then finally the engine blew up

Replaced with another crappy 1.4,
geh.jpg

This one got written off by a silly woman so I used the engine to rebuild the white one until that died again!

Then replaced with this,
5452_103186673541_507148541_2181099.jpg

Then went self employed and traded in for this,
IMAG1088_zps5f6fd594.jpg

Couple of months later got this as well,
IMAG0489.png

IMAG0509.jpg

Then my Son was born so sold the Vxr and got this for a few months,
IMAG0934.jpg

Got rid of the KR, the van was returned through the ombudsman after 2 years due to a recurrent leak and poor workmanship by the dealer to repair.

Now have these two, was trying to sell the Audi but due to poor offers and an unexpected pay rise I am going to either keep and get more power out of it or keep until autumn and trade in for an RS4 Avant..... not sure what route to go down yet..

The van,
IMAG1414_zps3cfbaf29.jpg

July 99 - Aug 00: J reg Renault Clio 1.4RT. Written off after suggering a tyre blowout on the M25. Worst car I owned, purely because it was so basic. And french.

Sept 00 - Jan 04: N reg Renault Clio 1.4RT Champs Elysees.

Jan 04 - Apr 11: VW Lupo GTI. Best car I've owned so far. Loved that little car. Sold it because things started going wrong and it was getting to the point it would've cost me as much as it was worth to fix them all. :(

Apr 11 - Current: Mazda 2 Sport. It's alright, it's just really sensible. Where's the fun in that?

But my best vehicle has to be my current baby which is not a car but my Suzuki GSXR 1000 K7, there not a lot on the road that can touch this for acceleration and speed.

Current car is 2001 Audi A4 2.5 TDi Quattro Sport with 133k.

My list is far too long, ive counted out roughly 50 cars. My passion was 205s. 2litre turbo and mi16 conversions. I dabbled with mk1 mr2s, fitted a v6 in one, which was sold and supercharged by a guy fitting an r8 to another!
My worst car was my first, a rusty metro that fell to bits and was stolen and found burning still on its roof in a train station carpark!
My fastest a mk2 astramax van with 4x4 calibra turbo conversion and highly tuned.
Most fun 205 mi16 (built 5 over the years) very easy and fast and reliable conversion.
My unluckyest, a 205 gti that had the alloys stolen 4 times in ONE WEEK!!!!!
Most unreliable MK2 orion rsturbo MFI engine, had to keep tapping the flap to get it started!
Most reliable, 1.7tdi isuzu engines mk3 astra, eventually blew a head gasket and then I used hire cars.
My a3 found me last year, and i wish I had gone VAG years ago, despite the problems im having now.

Good thread, I've been wondering what number I'm up to now :meeting:

Blimey, some serious Slant-4 action in those early choices!

1. '81 Datsun Sunny 150Y estate (the less said about the better....)
2. '84 Ford Escort 1.6 Ghia (nice old bus, shame about the rust...)
3. '89 Ford Escort 1.3 Popular (couldn't afford the to insure the 1.6 myself....)
4. '91 VW Golf 1.8 Driver (last of the Mk2's great to drive, and its still on the road according to the DVLA)
5. '01 Ford Focus 1.8 Zetec (best car I've ever had as an all round driver's car)
6. '05 Ford Focus 1.6 Ghia (disappointing, the first of the Mk2 Focuses...never floated my boat)
7. '07 Audi A3 1.6SE (slow as f**k - was the base 8V engine - wrote it off after an argument with a skip lorry)
8. '06 Audi A4 2.0TDI SE (thank god for Audi Gap Insurance on #7, which enabled me to upscale!)
9. '09 Audi A3 1.9TDIe Sport

Probably if I had the handling of #5 with the performance of #8 I'd have the perfect car....watch this space for No.10...

If I was to list all my cars in the last 20 years I would be here for a while...

My first car
vuaxhall chevette ( started life as a 1300 and was later fitted with a 2.1 pinto )

my worst car's
2003 vuaxhall vectra ( spent more time in bits than it did on the road ) closely followed by a daewoo ( mk2 astra shape cant remember model ) which was bought at 18 month old and lasted a week..

my favorite cars..
1986 E30 325i sport
1991 sapphire cosworth

a fair few older stuff including a bright orange 1973 vuaxhall victor estate with a 3ltr from a senator under the bonnet.
