worst car is without doubt the Golf , handled like a blancmange
Best car , i would have to say the Zetec S or Clio 200
both handleed like a dream , but you end up driving like a boy racer in either

My a3 is now the worst ive owned.
Timing belt breaking and discovering the second turbo impact damaged... not cool.

3. 2011 (61 plate) Audi A3 s-line 1.2 tfsi love it and its the best car ive had dispite having a car crash last summer in it, and its the cheapest to run

best car audi 80 kept 9 yrs and evo as good
worst car escort mk1 van which was standard

1- m reg Renault clio 1.2 (cost £80) just passed my test and wanted to get on the road
2- v reg Suzuki swift 1.0 (needed to replace above after 2 months) liked this car and was nippy for a 1.0
3- h reg Suzuki swift 1.3 GTI (First car i started modding) Got it to 182hp then got stolen!
4- 02 pug 206 gti 2.0 (Not that quick but handled like a go kart) Ex write it off
5- 53 mazda 3 sport 2.0 (MAZDASPEED edition 180) only 200 in the uk mine was number 84 lol Loved this car.
6- 07 Vectra c 1.9cdti 150 (we didnt need 2 cars so part ex my mazda and and the wifes fiesta) Worse decision we made
7- 02 Lexus is200 sport (fastest car ive owned in the end) Heavily modified 320hp in the end and ££££s spent.
8- 53 monedo 2.2 tdci zetec s (after my daughter was born had to save some cash) after spending money modding it had to scrap it!
9- y reg Saxo 1.1 first (£250 on boxing day this year after the mondeo blew up) no frills or bills sold for £550 last week
10- 56 Audi a4 2.0tdi s-line (present) only had it 4 days so no reviews yet but its a class drive!!

Best to date Mazda 3 only had to change the tyres and wipers in 4 years (43k covered) or the Lexus fast, luxurious and bullet proof!
Worse the Mondeo hands down only had 75k on the clock when scrapped with full ford service history (and i had put 1 gearbox, 4 injectors and a turbo on it!) but the Vectra was awful bought new and returned to dealer 28 days later.

Jesus, where to start?

1. 306 XN - not even PAS, horrid.
2. 306 1.4 XL Meridian - full spec.
3. 306 Dturbo - blew up on way home, dodgy dealer, total financial loss.
4. Golf 1.4 8v Mk3, spent about £30k on this over 7 years, modifiying it, waste of cash, meh
5. Golf 1.6 Driver Mk2 - great reliable tank for lots of mileage but boring.
6. Volvo 850 T5R - Reco remapped - very quick, used to spin tyres in 4th gear, only cost me £800 in 2006, got bored, sold it to some clueless person for £3k.
7. Focus 1.6 Zetec, horrid green color, ran this for a bit whilst at Uni, spending tons on it in maintanance.
8. Passat B5.5 PD130, remapped, very quick for what it was, roomy, 190ish hp, 300lb/ft, suprised a lot of cars, was at Uni so ran it on a shoestring.
9. Passat B5.5 1.8t remapped - engine issues, some days it ran like it had 300hp others it ran like it had THIRTY hp. Sold it at a loss.
10. 306 Gti-6, kept it for a week, boring.
11. Golf mk3 vr6 - lovely car, but missed modern car comforts, DAT NOISE! though with ram-air cosworth filter!
12. A3 2.0tdi 140 DSG - still own it, on 130k now and never breaks, don't even service it anymore as the inevitable gearbox disaster costs 2x the value of the car to repair.
13. A3 2.0t FSI S-Line, 30k miles, 2007, bought blind from Huddersfield, parents drove it home for me - discovered ton's of modifications, inc FMIC, pretty sure it had a custom turbo, but wrote it off two weeks later getting caught in last Decembers flooding in Cornwall before I could list what it had. Probably nicest and quickest car I have owned, but you need shares in Shell to own it - £90/200miles if lucky. In 2 weeks I spent £850 in fuel alone.
14. Looking for A3 170 S-Line. Hope to buy an early 6 speed manual 4.2 R8 within 2-3 years.

1. Nissan Sunny 1.2L (rust bucket)
2. Ford escort MK2 x 2
3. Ford escort MK 3
4. Ford escort RS2000
5. Renault Clio
6. vauxhall Astra GSI
7. Toyota Evensis (company Car)
8. Vauxhall Insignia (company cary) + astra SRI
9. VW Passet (company car) + another astra SRI
10. Audi A3

Best car Audi

Mines pretty easy, at the ripe age of 27 I passed my driving test and bought myself a 56plate A3 170 S Line Quattro, it had only done 47,7k. 10 months later it's got nearly 74k on it.

Oh bother! I forgot: along with the 1974 Lotus Elan +2 S 130/5 and a 1971 Lotus Elan Sprint convertible (yellow over white) was a Reliant Kitten (Kitty) fully rebuilt by myself (a brilliant little motor car) and she was replaced with a brand new MG Metro Turbo (Dixie) in black with red seatbelts of course and Dixie stayed with us for 17-years - how could I forget that...

And during this Lotus period I was maintaining at least 50-Lotus cars for others: Esprit, Elite, Eclat, Excel, Elan's, Europa's, etc.

And then during the Vauxhall Carlton period I was writing, illustrating and creating ALL of the build manuals for Westfield Sportscars - so if you've built one of these then you were using my destructions, sorry

Right here goes...
  1. 1987 Ford Fiesta 1.4L in Nimbis Grey, when I was 15 Pmsl...plan was to do it up for when I was 17...scrapped before i got there
  2. 1986 VW Golf C 1.3 in Red, bought from my works, I was an apprentice mechanics at Proton in Coventry, this came in PX
  3. 1984 VW Golf 1.3 in Silver, this was my spare car for the above....both scrapped...not before I sold this one to a friend....lol. It needed lots of work for MOT!!!
  4. 1991 Renault Clio RT 1.4 in White, I bought this for my actual 1st car lol, I passed my test, and had this for 3 weeks before it started playing up!! Would cut out and wouldn't start for 15-20minutes...traded in for...
  5. 1995 Vauxhall Astra LS 1.4 in Aqua Green...why I bought it...I do not know!!! What a pile of *****!!!
  6. 1993 Ford Escort 1.6LX in Red, this was a machine...bearing in Mind the previous car, this was a whole 100bhp of pure POWAAARRRRRRRR!!!!...until the steering began behaving strange...becoming very vague so I bought a runabout...
  7. 1991 Ford Fiesta 1.0, it did the job!!!
  8. 1993 Ford Escort 1.6LX in Dark Bottle Green...it was good car, cream interior...oooooo-errrr!! PX'd for....
  9. 1996 Vauxhall Vectra 1.6LS in Kingfisher Blue..pile of shiteeeee lol!! On a yes car credit agreement!! Bad mistake!!
  10. 1994 Vauxhall Astra 1.7d...(note not TD) in Blue...the fan failed on this, so I wired a crude switch set up to turn it on and off haha!! Slowest car I have ever had!!!!!! Shiteeeeeee!!! (It does get better I promise!!!)
  11. 1998 Ford Escort Si 1.8....loved this car...sporty 3 door, white dials...leaky power steering reservoir lol seized brake caliper caused a wheel fire, that someone had told me about before the lot went up!!!
  12. 1995 MG MGF 1.8 in British Racing Green, yes the head gasket went...yes I sold it...to a mate...well he was a friend of a friend...who ended up being a good friend of mine! He gave me £2200 and his....
  13. 1995 Ford Probe 2.0 16v..in white...you know I actually liked this car, flippy up lights, this car despite being only a runabout, was one of the best cars I ever had!! Never gave me no trouble, but...the Germans were calling!! I had spotted my next car on the road side...and ever since my dad had one...I wanted one...
  14. 1994 Audi 80 Sport 2.0...in red, the car that made me join this forum, had a crack Inlet manifold that no one wanted to fix!! Every mechanic/garage priced themselves out the job...PX'd after 6 weeks for a...runabout that lasted 3yrs!!!
  15. 1997 Rover 214si in nightfire red, had a private plate K15 GUD...one of the best cars I ever had, minimal servicing...I did 30k before even changing the oil and filter...not my proudest claim...but I was falling on hard times...and this car got me through without even a croak! I MG'd it up slightly...wheels, seats, interior plastics, just to freshen it up, the gearbox started to whine after few yrs...of abuse lol
  16. 1995 Vauxhall Astra 1.4LS...again. In red, got given this by my old boss, he was gone scrap it, but I had i. As a runabout..shitteeeeee lol
  17. 2005 VW Golf 2.0 GTTDI, in Laser Blue, my previous car, only just got rid of this, this car holds many memories for me, it was the car my GF at the time bought me after only 2mths together, we are now married with a 2yr old girl, I bought my daughter home from hospital after she was born in this car, I bought my wife home in this car after we got married...I really did love this car, only got rid of it because the mileage was really high after my 4 1/2yrs ownership (165k) and the turbo was screaming, and it was starting to cost money!! I do miss this car..a lot
  18. My final car...as it stands...2010 Audi A4 SE CVT...always wanted a B8 after having go in my transport managers...I do love this car a lot...only had it 7weeks, so I'm still learning it, but it's all good so far....

My best was a 1960 Ford Anglia 997cc.OHV and was the 3rd. car I ever had. In it's day was a lovely revvy engine and a car I believe started the custom mod fraternity. Sold it to my dad as his runaround but stole it back from him when he was on holiday, he never drove it again.
My worst was a Morris Marina 1800cc. TC. Bought it in the dark, paintwork was abysmal and a lot of parts just fell of when driving. Eventually caught fire and good job too.

1st was an F reg 1.3 Ford escort 3dr in silver. It had a 'go fast' stripe down one side but not the other and 3 hub caps, all different of course. I learnt to drive in that. The engine seized in it 2 weeks after I passed my test!

2nd was an L reg 1.7 Ford Fiesta 5dr in Metallic Dark green. Snapped the cam shaft in that! Something to do with the timing belt. Not a bad car to be fair but got rid of it after my Mini disc player (and swimming kit.... WTF!?) got stolen from it. Sold it to my mate who promptly smashed it into a road sign.

Joint 2nd was a 5.8 litre V8 Chevvy van that me and a mate bought. Awesome van. When we bought it it was blue but we sprayed it black and put a spoiler on the back and a red stripe A team stylee. Had to be done. Didn't really check the oil in it as much as we should have done. That engine seized too so we had to buy a 5.1 litre V8 and put that in it. I think hes still got it in his yard somewhere!

3rd was a red V reg Ford Puma 1.7. Nice car but my mates called it my handbag. Put a K&N filter on it so it sounded ok. Really good handling in it to be fair but it was too girly so had to go.

4th was an 03 Golf GTTDI 150 3 dr. When I got it it was completely standard and the handling was rubbish! Really wallowy so I lowered that and put 18 RS4 reps on it. Oh and remapped it to about 200bhp.
good because it was quite rapid but bad because it blew a turbo, water pump, clutch and fly!!

5th and current is my ice silver 2010 BE S3 sport back. Had it 2 years now and it is awesome! REVO stage 1, miltech cat back non res. Not planning on changing it any time soon.

Renault clio 1.4s 2000
Mg ZR 1.4 Atomix Green 2004
Audi A3 1.8T kingfisher blue 1999
Audi A3 1.8T merlin purple 2001
Seat leon cupra black 2001
Audi A3 1.8T ming blue 2001
Audi TT 225 quattro silver 2000
Seat leon cupra black 2002
Seat leon diesel FR white 2007
Seat leon petrol FR black 2006

Worst car out of the 10 that I have owned over the years is obviously the clio, it served its purpose.

The best car to drive was the TT, it was remapped to 260bhp, and stuck to the road, it also sounded saucey.

But I had the most fun in my little ZR, it had 18 inch rims, a 15 inch sub and a huge pipercross air filter. Broke down every couple of weeks for some reason or another, but nevertheless fun was had, I was also 18 at the time, so thats probably why so much fun was had lol.

All the rest were nice aswel, the ming blue had s3 bumpers and full s3 interior, the kingfisher was just a lovely colour.

The most boring cars were probably the mk1 leons, they drove nice, but looked naff, with a naff interior.

I then thought id spend around 8k on a car so bought a derv FR, I owned it for two weeks before it cut out at 45mph on a main road in traffic, so sent it straight back, then i bought the petrol FR, and so far so good, they look nice and drive nice, with a nice sound when you press the noisey peddle.

Next car will probably be an A5, im just unsure of engine due to the cheap fuel prices.

Early 1980's started off road motorbikes Suzuki TS125ERZ trailbike which I had til about 3 years ago, its being used on a farm down in Wales now, really heavy but good solid bike with deltacross nobbly tyres and monoshock suspension, Yamaha YZ50 bought it off a mate and it died soon after !

Yamaha DT125 American Import first road bike on L plates 16 years old, within two days I'd flown headfirst through the back of a Sierra windscreen ! Was more worried about the bike, My Mum was really pleased when it got nicked...I was gutted.

Late 80's first car was lucky to get my hands on an Orion 1600 i Ghia in metallic light blue, sunroof, was an auto with great kickdown, unfortunately lent it to a so called mate who mashed it up in an accident with a tree ! Constantly getting stopped by the fuzz, did smoke a lot of dope in that car though ! Rave On ! Madchester

Early 90's my grandfathers car which me and my brother shared when we were students it was an Orange Volvo 340 again Auto (with cruise control) and a choke ! Was on a CVT sounded like a rubber band about to snap, was out on a date and the young lady said, will you please change gear ! Street cred zero !
The orange beast broke down on the way to London, cylinder head melted, after a mental time at Glastonbury festival....only car Ive ever had to pay to have scrapped !

Maroon 1.1 fiesta good little runaround car, always needed welding though, had a couple of very near death experiences in that one !

Vauxhall Astra 1.4 i white...can still remember when I got that felt amazing after the fiesta, another that had to be scrapped, was gutted !

Moved on to Saabs

Classic 900 white three door...great looking car
9-3 red that one got nicked and I got it back, was used in a clothing robbery, one t shirt still in wrapper in the boot, Salford gangs were big into Saabs back then
because of the big boots and reasonably quick, werent supposed to be that easy to nick, they drilled all the locks, anyway got it back but was never the same

Diesels !

Ford Escort diesel van ex post office (slept in at a few festivals) Got nicked with all my tapes in it !!!!!

2000's

9-3 tid 2.2 SE silver
9-3 tid 2.2 SE black first black car, had to work hard to get that right, turbo went for second time, call it a day

Black VW golf estate 2.0 Tdi 140 got into playing golf getting old ! First ever car from a main dealer absolute dog, also stank of dog, it was rejected got my money back !
Black Bmw 320d M sport tourer turbo went on that one was about 4 years old when I bought it, ok car but not powerful enough, good mpg

2013

Silver Saab 9-3 aero hot first reasonably quick car, had some fun with that doing it up and sold it on after the summer, and my first major car show

Phantom Black 61 plate S3 8P Stronic black edition fully loaded, blew the budget with this one ! Sold it on due to issues that couldnt be resolved after 8 months

Black manual BMW M135i 5 door fully loaded sunroof all the right spec, got my back in the end, bit too cramped, off set pedals, winter tyres annoying, quick car though, and well built solid chunky feel.

Present day

1989 Vw golf mk2 gti 16v 3 door diamond silver small bumper completely original, sunroof, 93k miles great car still got this one after I gave it a mechanical overhaul, may sell may not, garaged

S1 Sportback Sepang blue black roof fully loaded both quattro packs, heated seats, cruise, park assist, SD nav, took the plunge and bought it new end of Jan 2015 !

Whats on the radar

Maybe something RS classic or not so classic maybe something British who knows ??? :thumbs up:

Will let you choose worst and best, each one has a story of its own !

Vauxhall Nova SR (1.4 went like @&£! Off a shove and stuck to the road like the same on a blanket.
X2 Vauxhall Corsa Sport's we had one of the first out of the factory. Actually had to ask someone if they would move so I could get into it a couple of days after picking it up.
Vauxhall Astra 1.6 SR ( valve spring went at just over three years old, out of warranty £1,400 engine rebuild.
Vauxhall Vectra, huge boot.
Ford Escort, pile of crap, but it took a load of miles as a get to work car.
Mini Cooper ( last of the carb powered, over bored, light weight manifold, straight through exhaust, K&N induction. An absolute blast, the only car I miss.
Vauxhall Zafira, small van with the seats down, thirsty.
Toyota Yaris SR

Couple were second cars. But to be honest apart from the Astra and the valve spring incident all of them never let me down. They were all pretty well looked after, services etc. I did all the work on the Mini. A previous owner had it over bored but the exhaust etc was all my own work.

Next up is the A3 Sportback that's on order, can't wait !

1995 Ford Escort 1.3 - Had it for the first two years of driving, never gave me any trouble and even sailed through MOT twice
2001 Polo GTI - Miss this car a lot, always attracted attention in car parks etc. and looked great on he 16" BBS wheels
2007 Polo GTI Red - Loved this car, was remapped to around 200bhp, lots of wheelspin....ended up in a ditch on fire
2007 Polo GTI White - Bought as a replacement, but never felt as nice as my red one despite being lower miles and a little bit newer
2010 A3 1.8 Black Edition - Current car, love it and can't fault it a bit
