    Goodbye Audi, hello Focus RS!

I know it might not be too some of your tastes, but I've bought myself a Focus RS today!

Excited isn't the word!! Pick it up Wednesday afternoon!!

It's got the LUX pack 1 & 2, and I think it's got nearly every option possible:

    Sat nav
    Reversing camera
    Ipod connection
    Parking sensors
    Auto lights/wipers
    Auto dipping mirror
    Black suede/leather recaros

And all the usually standard RS stuff!

Got to sort insurance out as I'm only 23 so it's going to be steep!

    [/quote]

Let me know what you think!

jesus, i dont think steep quite covers it. you could probably have bought a nice little car with the amount your gona get robbed for insurance. i'm 21 and pay a fair whack for an 11 year old S3! if you can get insured for less than 2k, regardless of your ncb, i'd be impressed.....

Haha, I'm not a Ford man myself, I'd not even consider buying one, but even I can appreciate they make the odd classic, and the Focus RS is one of them.

As much as I like my S3, even I know it can be a bit too clinical, it just goes where you point it with no drama. But for out and out thrills, other brands do it better...

    Ditto

I'm not generally a Ford man but the RS is a whole different kettle of fish. Neighbours is pushing well over 400bhp and it made my S2+ S3 look pedestrian. Admittedly I couldn't live with his car day to day, but there are bits of the experience I much prefer to the Audi. Good choice.

RS is a monster & is nice, but for that level of car, the stuck on headlight washers just make bumpers look so tacky imho, its the details that make me walk away from a car, that for eg. is 1 reason.

I'm not usually a Ford fan but these are an exception, they look super and I've never heard a bad word about the drive on them.

Cheers for the comments guys. I'm a massive ford fan at heart so this car is perfect for me. I picked it up yesterday and already I'm so impressed with it. I had an ST before which was stage 3+ and even in standard form the RS beats it hands down. The main thing for me is everytime i look at it I have a big grin on my face and and even bigger one when I drive it and hear that 5 pot growl!

I'm actually surprised the RS beats a stage 3 st? I was under the impression they tuned up really well. Sounds like a beast, unsure if I would buy a focus though, have considered it in the past

Well it feels like it does, but was earlier in the year. My stage 3+ ST was 290bhp and 390 ft/lbs but the clutch couldn't really cope with it. The RS is just an all round better car. Especially seeing as its fully loaded which just makes it a nice place to be.

The 5 pot does sound amazing, that much is true, I reckon it rivals the VR6 in that aspect. Quite a few knocking about down here, and that green does look lovley. I just can't stand the cheap look of the interior, thats the only thing that puts me off.

TBH someone said the wire going to the mirror wasnt even covered, so you saw a loom hanging down from the roof lining to the rear view, that for me is just plain crap, attention to detail is where its at, thats pure laziness on Fords part.

it is a lovely car mate, enjoy it

My own experience is when i bought my old 8L which was knocking around the same price of a much younger ST at the time... i got in the ST, looked around and opened and closed the glovebox - the noise that came from it made me get out and walk away, simple as that.

Im sure you'll love it though with all the trimmings on it

Granted the interior quality isnt as good as Audi, but I find them far too clinical and they just don't put a smile on my face like this does. I did look at an 8P3 S3 but it did nothing for me.

and bunch of rattles coming from everywhere hehe. I had 2 STs before and now I can tell S3 is in a different league completley its not a boy racer yet very fast and agile car However if you can live with the tic tac box plastics covering every single panel around you, ****ty dealership service, poor on petrol and on wet, high insurance and bit chavy looks then yes you cant go wrong with the RS and you'll enjoy driving in it. At the end of the day if you love it then nothing else really care:]

LOL shhhh. Yeah seems to be loads of tuning options on them, don't think I'm going to go insane with big turbos, just the usual I think. Went out in a Stage 4+ one last night and thats got me thinking now lol

Very nice mate, may not have the build quality of other makes, but then that wasnt what they are about, more about taking a run of the mill production car and beefing it up with a lairy kit and some fire under its belly to create something that is a bit mad and with a sense of occassion, not surprised it brings a grin to your face, what its all about!

I recently part exed my 52 plate S3 in for an 11 plate Focus RS and it is probably the best car i've ever owned.
I looked at new S3's but they honestly did not compare to the RS.
By the way mine is a frozen white.

i believe the badge should actually be removed and replaced with "Volvo" as i believe this ford uses a Volvo engine that they tweeked, very quick cars, one nuked my old s3 8l that was mapped, but they have not achieved anything.............

.........17 years ago audi produced a 2.2 litre 5 cylinder that created 311 bhp, the rs2, which has proven to be reliable with examples exceeding 150,000 miles all over the web, sorry, but ford have a cheek, they whack another 300cc in and even with today's technology cannot produce an engine more powerful than that of which audi created 17 years ago lolol

i really dont see what the big fuss is over these, enjoy it though lol

I love the RS! Cracking choice of car, Dude and in the best colour (my joint fave with white). If I didn't have to drive an Automatic these days (thanks to a spinal injury) this would have been very top of my list. ENJOY!!! xx

So now you`ve had the RS a while what do you really think of it?

I took a white one for a quick spin last winter and I must say I quite liked it to drive, but the looks put me off, maybe if I was still in my 20s it might have been the look for me, maybe I`ve grown up and have become sensible, maybe . .

I test drove one of these before new year (green) as it was a tie between the RS and an S3, until I drove it!

It was heavy and felt nothing like 300 bhp compared to my last S3 it didn't give me the adrenaline feeling I seeked. As others have mentioned the washers in the bumper were shocking and interior was very shabby for a 10 month old car....I left deflated. Love the aggressive look and colour (green recaros mmm). Also previous owner had added a dump valve with was so chavy lol....

If I'd taken the car it would of been mountuned straight away and considering the cost to purchase was more than a S3 plus remap seem to defeat the point!

Anyway glad your happy with the car bud and hope you can keep up with the fuel costs lol

I love the looks, and the 5 pot growl is epic - Ive not driven one so cant comment on the performance, but I would expect any Ford RS to be entertaining

Its definitely not the kinda car I could afford to buy or run, primarily because the depreciation is savage, along with the mpg ... but thats never the reason you buy this kind of car - so as long as your happy and enjoying your motoring, thats all that counts !

    Have fun dude

Recently saw this car at the Revo open day in Daventry (next door neighbour has an RS, hence my visit with him). Some amazing cars there pushing some major bhp. They're a brilliant car with a lot of character. The king of FWD hatchbacks when it comes to out and out thrills. You get the feeling Ford put some effort into these unlike recent S/RS cars!

about the only forus rs i've looked at and thought, cool.

they just look ridiculous to me. im 23 and think it looks stupid, did an 18 yr old saxo driver design it?

my mrs has an ST, and i actually quite like it. and even though sooooo many people say the build is crap, i think hers is really nice and solid inside, leather recaros are great and realllly hugging. there is little details that let it down, but dont most cars??
i've friends with ST's too that want to 'upgrade' to an RS. i say to them why, why yould you want to look stupid, especially if you want the thrills, your ST can be set up and tuned to embarrass an RS. it does have its market though, and they sell well.

Fuel economy is not that bad considering the extra thrill factor you get every time you drive the RS.
I can get 36mpg on a run and about 20 mpg around town which is pretty similar to my old S3.

When I was looking for new wheels recently, I came accross the following pic. Make sure looks similar to sit, and you've got my vote!

I've owned RS Fords in the past but probably wouldn't go back to one. I would've considered the latest offering but theres no 4WD....

How does it keep the power down and what is the torque steer like? Anyway, enjoy your car, looks lovely.

You can take the boy out of Essex but not Essex out of the boy...

Not true, the ST is about on it's limit at 300bhp and there are issues with the piston liners much past this point (there are some cars over this figure). A standard RS will happily see off even a fairly well tweeked ST and with the Revonuckle it's game over for the ST. You may, if you have deep pockets make an ST keep up with one but you'll have virtually nowhere further to go once you've got it to that point, all the RS owner will need to do is a simple Stage 1 remap and it's game over.

There isn't a huge number of cars available so it will be another appreciating RS.
