Thread: 09 sportback lights

Just managed to get myself a set of 09 rear lights for my 07 sportback.

What's the best way to get them working as there not plug and play like the 3 door.

Am I best getting an adptor or is there a way to hard wire them?

Has anyone got a link to were to get the adaptor?

you can buy the adapter, and the vag-com fix at KUFATEC GmbH

Easy way is the kufatec loom. You still have to take off the rear hatch interior cover off though

The correct and best way is to rewire your existing looms. More work but It will be better than the Kufatec loom way.

I don't know what you mean by 'rewire'...?

They have completely different connectors, so it's not like you can just jiggle some pins around to make it work...

Unless you're talking about REMOVING the old connectors and putting the new ones on...? -In which case I'm all ears!

Yes removing old connector housings, cutting & joining new wires as they use different pin ends & moving to the new location in the new connectors aswell as wiring through to the inner lights in the tailgate instead of the ****ty number plate light job that kufatec do, I prefer a proper job & the tailgate part is a royal pita tbh.

TBH I cant recall prices of parts, anybody can find out from a dealer tbh, its the doing thats the time/cost huh.

Also repair wires have gone through the roof, if not one of a few that are widely used on the car, even as much as £8 each in some cases.

I'll try and find the part numbers. -I know that I have the transposition for the outers already figured out, and I think it's a mirror-image left-to-right... I'l get it sussed. -The US ones are different from the UK versions in that -from dodgy memory- they use ONE more pin on the 2009+ socket, which is for the tiny outside LEDs (why they get their own pin all to themselves is a mystery to me; -they come on whenever the tail-lights and LED Rings are on)

So I'll look into that; unless your house visits venture THIS far afield, in which case I'll get the kettle on... -YOU bring the Hob-Nobs!

Can this mod be done to a 54 reg sportback first ones with the new grille? If so NHN would it be possible to acquire your services also, I don't know where in the south your located but i'm in the romford area if thats any help pm me with details and price if you can help.
