I know it sounds boring but the new EU Consumer Rights Directive law which came into effect on 13 June may be important to all of us who buy stuff on the Internet as it extends the period when we can cancel an online order from 7 to 14 days (and we have to get our money back in 14 days of returning the product).
But more important to us motorists is the UK Consumer Rights Bill which combines 8 pieces of UK consumer law into one. Currently we can reject something in a "reasonable" period of time but that period has never been defined in law. Once this new law comes in we can reject a new vehicle within 30 days and without accepting a repair first.
Also in the first 6 months we will be able to reject a new car after just one failed repair attempt, whereas a manufacturer can attempt any number of repairs currently before accepting a rejection.
