Anyone else detecting some whine on the overrun?


One of the ways I can get the car to do this is to get the car up to 28mph, stick it in 4th, then let the car overrun through engine braking.

There is a whine as the car slows down between 25mph and 21mph.


Haven't yet determined if it's coming from the rear diff,or the gearbox itself.

Anyone else heard this, or care to experiment as above? :)
 
No issues with mine Mr 8 tried it on way to pub. Mrs drove home ;-)
 
Isolated it to the gearbox now.

I think.

it seems louder around the transmission tunnel area :/

I have this too in my manual gear car, probably from rear transmission, I like it, its a faint high-tech terminator movie sound :)

Not sure if this is the sound you mean though..

Yep, I have the same sound. Not always there, but once you hear it you cant stop hearing it, like you tune in to it.
