For what it's worth got an adapter for my Samsung phone yesterday, plugged it in this morning and discovered that the connection socket is Live even with the ignition off. Will still charge the phone. Not stunning information but thought I would post the fact just in case someone wants to know, that is if they have not already discovered this fact.
