    Dilemma!

So, I have on order an A3 Saloon 2.0 TDi S-Line with the following options:

    Daytona Grey
    SD Card Sat Nav
    Privacy Glass
    Reversible Boot Mat
    Audi Sound System

I've a current delivery to dealer date of mid-June. With delivery to me up to 10 days later. So circa 16 weeks

However, I've just been contacted by my leasing company who have informed me that one of their dealers has a car coming in that is the exact same spec as mine but without ASS.

It is available in THREE WEEKS!

What would you do. Take the lesser specced car or wait?

Depends on how much of an audiophile you are....

Well I wouldn't call myself an audiophile but do have a decent set up at home and have a two-amp/sub/crossovers etc setup in my outgoing Golf.

But I was happy to lose B&O on the grounds that I don't really make any use of the golf set up these days and had opted for the ASS as a safe middle ground.

Truth is, I've not really concerned myself with the audio in the car and haven't given it much of a test in any set up, so on that basis I have no preconceived ideas of what one system will sound like compared to the other.

I'd rather the ASS but am contemplating saving 13wks and just living with the standard setup.

I hate having a carrot dangled in front of me. Far too impatient!

I'd just pop into a dealer and have a quick listen, I find my standard spec OK for what I use it for...
Think i'd take the car rather than a bit better sound.

Would you regret giving up the sound system for the sake of waiting a bit longer in a year's time? Only you can answer whether you need or want the sound system though, that's all up to you!

What differentiates the two system? Does the ASS have dedicated amps and the other doesn't? Or is it less speakers in the basic spec?

You should listen to both ASAP, as if the cheap one sounds waspy and flat decide it will taint the ownership experience of the car.

The ASS has a 6 channel amp, centre speaker and sub that the standard set up does not.

I'll test a colleague's standard set up tomorrow. Hopefully it still sounds decent. I listen to radio mainly these days anyway.

If you get a sub in the ASS (however flimsy the OEM one is likely to be), I'd be inclined to wait. For those times you fancy cranking it up the bass should deliver a bit slap than tickle ;-)

Succumbed to impatience and dropped the ASS.

Delivery in 2-3 weeks now. Buzzing!
