Anyone aware of a remap available for the 1.4 cod 140bhp engine?

Hi, maybe a silly question but what is the down side to fitting the remap? Their website says it will deliver more power and be more economical and be within the cars safety parameters . If that's the case why doesnt audi fit one at the factory or have it as an option? must be catch surely - invalidates any Audi warranty and increased insurance I guess are obvious things I assume?

Manufacturers won't give the maximum output just because they can, as this would be bad for business. They know people will pay a hefty premium for the next engine up, just look at the cost difference between the 150ps and the 184ps. There are 'Audi approved' options but they are very costly.

The box is completely untraceable once removed, which can be very easily done in less than 10 mins.

Depends on your insurer by I'm with esure and it's cost an extra £4 per month for up to 30% performance gain.

I deliberated about the DTUK tuning box for months, but finally took the plunge and am extremely happy with the results. Andrew at DTUK is excellent and can answer any questions you may have.

Thanks, worth considering then, as insurance not a big deal extra

I was surprised how little the additional cost was tbh, was fully expecting a 50%+ increase in my premium. There are a lot of insurers that will refuse to insure 'modified' cars and others that will screw you over. Definately worth trying esure in my experience.

That box is for the TDI though isn't it? Not the 1.4 COD...

No the link I put in post#2 is for the 1.4 COD. They do specialise in Diesel engines as there name suggests, but they do have boxes for petrol engines as well. Apparently there's one for the new S3 as well.

I might not be looking correctly, but I can't see any stats on their website on how much more bhp or torque you get on the 1.4 CoD.

If you put your model in the search function it should state the performance gains, seem to remember it takes it up to 170-180ps. It doesn't detail economy gains because it's a little more difficult to calculate, but expect around 5-10% typically. Forum member ABYSS (Andrew) is the owner of DTUK, so it would be worth contacting him for more details.

When you say "completely untraceable" does it not register a code that Audi would pick up during a service?

If not, i may have to start being nice to my wife :)

Nope it doesn't leave a trace as far as I understand. The gains in torque look good for a 1.4 petrol engine but that is what's good about remapping these new engines. I think I might go for it after I've put some more miles under the car's belt...

Once the kit is removed there are no traces left behind

We usually offer discounts of £80 off the fullRRP to ASN members, but I'm willing to offer a single system to someone with £150.00 off the full rrrp bringing it down to £399 inc vat. This is only available on 1 box and in return for this additional discount i would love to get some feedback for our Facebook page, website and ASN members too :)

If anyone is interested please drop me a pm

P.S Ive just emailed the guys in Germany to make sure the info i have is upto date..

Ill update this info asap.

Now that is good deal...

it would be even handier if this person was local(ish) to us, or willing to travel to DH9

1 year on..... This looks amazing. Has anybody got a 12 months or so with this tuning box under their bonnet? I pick up my A3 saloon 1.4 cod at the end of this month & this looks very attractive indeed. Does it not invalidate warranty/ do any damage? Where does the box live?

The box may be untraceable but internet forum posts aren't.

The box sits under the bonnet and as long as it's removed there are no traceseft behind

Why not change up to a car with the bhp you'd like? that way you get warranty.....

It's not all bhp, if you get say the 1.8, yes more power but the torque is exactly the same, thus there isn't much of a difference in performance plus you'd lose out on the financial side of things. Remaps tend to give far more than just an increase in power anyway, they increase the torque, they can change the manner in how the power and torque delivery comes in, they can make the engine rev more easily, can transform the drivability of the car and can make it much better. Good remapping companies, such as Superchips, also give a warranty against mechanical failure that could be caused by a remap.

Paul@Unit9, not sure if I've asked you before are your remaps just a reprogram of the ECU, or is it a box or is it a self ecu programming device the owner can perform? I want something I can change to and fro myself without it generating a error within the ecu.
